A Beauty Like Daggers

Glamour, Fragility and Pain

A beauty felt like a dagger.

Sharp

A danger begging to be endured.

Those who don’t know it,

have never felt it

They see the glamour. The delicacy.

They don’t understand the beauty of its pain.

It is a pain mixed with comfort, nostalgia and desire. Annual.

Marking the passage of time.

Dreaded and anticipated.

You know it has come.

The first moment of wakefulness

The cold on your body. On every part that isn’t hidden beneath.

The fingers. The tip of the nose.

They feel it. They want to hide. Be submersed beneath, the sheets, the covers, the blankets.

They beg to join the parts that are there.

The deliciousness of letting them hide. Sneaking them underneath for another second…for only a minute…the thrill of the warm comfort that can only be felt because it is kept hidden and fragile. Surrounded by Cold. Cold that permeates. Cold that is sharp. Cold that leaves a trail of elegance and allurement along everything it touches.

The First Frost.

Lovely poem. Gave me all the warm and cold feelings.

I wasn't here for this challenge, so I thought I would go back and read some poems. Marking the passage of time, dreaded and anticipated. I felt cold when reading it, and I didn't understand at first, and then I got to the end and thought oh a double meaning. Nicely Done!!!

Oh I love the urgency in the tone you chose for this, it sounded like a big reveal. My mind went to a different place, then when I got to the end I said oh!! That’s the mark of good writing, weaving two or more meanings all at once. I am impressed, you’ve a new subscriber 👌🏽👏🏽🤗♥️
