do you hear the pounding against the cage inside my chest

do you hear the rattling of my heart tossed to one end then the next

the ripping sound it makes as it breaks and tears to pieces

the crimson that escapes as my suspiration ceases

you will not claim to be the cause of my pain

i will not offer you that honor

you will not hear my dreadful cries

the way my tears fall and destroy the earth like acid

how my breath gets caught inside the ragged holes inside my chest

you stretch, pull and tug until i’m worn thin

and glass shards now protrude my skin

i was already broken when you found me

sad poetry
