I knew I was queer

Before my skin was

Ripped before

Red ripped

My favorite color

Train tracks

Soldered the lines

Between hope and a

Body wrecked

I know I was queer

Stirring masa

Stiffness teaching

Me what I needed to

Wishing between the

Salt soaked husks

Salsa roja

Manteca y los

Botones de oro

Botas de un tio

Con sangre que roza y

Se hacen hilo

Los corazones que

Cantan del piso

What I mean is,

My sexuality exists outside of time

I was queer before the

Abuse I

Was covered in masa

Adding salt to taste

40 tamales and us

surreal poetry
