America's pastime's seen it all
So much happens in the game of baseball
But these words are hardly said from spring to fall:
"27 up, 27 down"
* * *
Nine innings is all it takes
Three outs per frame; no mistakes
Immortality and fame are the stakes
27 up, 27 down
* * *
Since this game began its play
23 such occurrences have been on display
The only times announcers say:
"27 up, 27 down"
* * *
And when the final out is made
When all of the innings have been played
The celebration and memories never fade
27 up, 27 down
