Leave A Message At The…Hello

We need a pill to stay awake

A different one to fall asleep

We need a calendar to help

Keep straight the hours days and weeks

*

We work to pay for things

racked up on a credit card

That in a couple months

We’re selling in our own front yards

*

We operate by schedules

Communicate by telephone

Our conversations based upon

Which tv app that we have on

*

We set reminders to remind us

Tomorrow and next Saturday

And when we should be sleeping

We lie restlessly awake

*

Over stimulated yet-Living all alone

I can’t go anywhere unless connected to my damn cellphone

I cannot fall to sleep but don’t want to wake up the next day

I wonder how much longer we can exist this way

*

It’s such a viscous cycle

Like a suped up carousel

In a world so complicated

I should just probably take the pills
