2020 was the year it changed
The year the pandemic came

2020 was the year that everything changed,
although it had started just the same.
As every other one before,
Then excited, ecstatic we became
Just from knowing she was on her way,
Another baby was soon to be.
We moved into a bigger house,
More room and space to move about
made lots of plans,
Which were soon changed,
Then out of the blue A pandemic came.
The world stood still, in silent almost
As a virus hit and shook the ground,
Locked inside our rented house,
Not allowed to go out,
Nothing we knew of was the same.
Everything changed in a couple of days.
We stood in lines with the 2 meter rule,
Qued for ages to get food and loo roll,
High risk I was considered to be,
so garden and house bound it was for me,
for ages I was not allowed,
To see my friends,
or family,
Only essential trips it seemed to be.
For months on end emotions were high,
Taking each day as it went by.
Slowly we were allowed out,
To parks and Forrests to venture about,
Then bubbles were formed to help us keep, some peace of mind and some sainity.
We had to wear masks in public places,
To keep it at bay and protect our nation,
For the death toll went over 40 thous,
Still climbing each day as testing was done, but slowing down because the restrictions we made.
We had clapped nhs on a Thursday night,
stood in the street at 8 at night,
To thank those who were fighting this, the invisible killer in our midst,
COVID19 was it’s name,
Ill never forgot the impact it made,
The fear it created nor the symptoms it gave.
It turned everyone’s world upside,
Inside and all around,
For we couldn’t find a suitable cure,
To save those so Ill we were desperate for,
For this pandemic we didn’t predict,
Or ever expect until it hit.
For 2020 was the year it all changed,
That some things that were may never be the same.
