20 Years of Goodbye

A Breath, A Tear, A Final Glance

20 Years of Goodbye

20 years we laughed, we cried

Dreaming, hoping, planning, living

Closer and further, growing both ways at once

Was it goodbye before it ever started?

Two opposites destined to burn out

Refusing to believe the signs, always knowing better

Hold on tighter, don't think, everything will be alright

20 years is enough to last, right?

Life turned upside down, distance growing greater

Hearts know no bounds, clinging despite the weather

Turbulent storms, lightning between us

Where did 20 years go so wrong?

Two lonely cars, an empty parking lot

Words pouring, anything to avoid goodbye

Push me away again, make it easier to say

20 years of trying to stay

A heart broken, pieces cutting like glass

Tears falling, glistening diamonds streaking our cheeks

A shy hello to memories never to be lost

It was all just 20 years of goodbye
