13 Days of Being Alive
Mindful-Based Cognitive Therapy
Day 1: Kombucha
Dark smudges on can
Hiding dent marks,
So cold it hurts,
Smells sweet,
Sips acoustics with can,
Carbonation "spicy".
Day 2: Dandelion Leaf
One "spikey" spot,
Smooth,
Smells green, old;
Looks translucent green;
Sounds like crinkling paper;
Tastes bland and bitter.
Day 3: Walking
Left side of right knee
Pain shooting up when muscle stretched,
Taste of breakfast,
Saw white flowers on a tree,
Smelled sweetness in the air,
Can't remember what I heard.
Day 4: Duolingo
Hear birds,
Taste mucus,
Smell dust,
Touch ridged plastic,
See a button to click continue,
(Bloody nose)
Day 5:
N/A
Day 6: Chocolate
Honey chocolate soft,
Smells like honey,
Thick and a textured surface,
Feels cold,
Wrapper crinkle.
Day 7:
Day 8:
NA
Day 9: Burning Wasp Nest
Smell like camp fire,
Hear pops of eggs,
Feels like paper mache,
Looks small and fragile,
Don't taste anything.
Day 10:
NA
Day 11:
NA
Day 12: Music
Itchy head,
Stuffy nose and dust,
Yesterday's toothpaste,
"Love Runs Out" OneRepublic,
Circles less glossy on bedroom wall.
Day 13: Jam and Crackers
I taste garlic on the crackers
that I'm dipping in fig jelly,
I see light reflected off the chrome bag
and splashing on a cat pen
and a note pad
and a COVID test kit,
I hear the constant ring/hum of the fridge,
I smell garlic,
I feel the weight of my arms leaning
Against the table.
