“Too Bloody,”

She said

“Leave It,”

She said

I counseled,

She cried

Her voice was

minuscule

“It’s better this way,

the concrete only weighs

on me.”

She said.

I responded,

“I am here.”

Family Secrets

haunt,

dismember

present days

Her life was her own.

Why give credence

to anyone

else?

She found

the value

in her strength

long, long ago.

“Moving forward

was the answer

to negate

horror,”

She said

“Forego

leeches

vampires

murderers of spirit,”

She said

“FAMILY

BLOOD,

the irony,”

She said

Family Secrets

She told me

secrets for the living

lift concrete from

pure family hearts
