Home away from Home
When I think of home, many memories flock my mind. What is home for you. Better yet, where is home. You will be Surprised by how much many people can’t summarize this question with just one word. A simply question yet it, consumes such a broad answer.

A Snowy Adventure…
Sunshine Coast… here we come! Dreams of shimmering golden sands were set to become reality before the sun dipped below the azure horizon once more. Frothy white capped waves restlessly rolled back and forth... waiting to embrace me ever so soon. Memories of delectable fried rice and bubble tea tantalised us. Nothing could stop us… we’d be there in time for lunch.

Devoted, Determined and Deeply Loved
This is one of dozens of photos I have of this very special guy, but it's my favorite for many reasons. Obviously, the light was perfect when I turned and saw it, and it framed up nicely, but the most important part is his intense focus on what you can't see. He's not just watching the sunset.

Breaking the Depression Through the Lens
In the early 1980s, my brother graduated from high school and spent a year working for a local moving company while deciding what to do with his life. Our mother insisted that he attend a Christian college, so he looked for a school that would allow him to play baseball, and he eventually settled on Covenant College because our middle sister had discovered it and recommended it to him. Covenant is located on Lookout Mountain, Georgia, just across the state line from Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, where the famous Rock City can be found.

Old Enough To Get There But Too Young To Get Inside
It all started with Dolly. In 2016, my family took a trip to Gatlinburg. My whole family...mom, dad, sisters, aunt, uncles, cousins, grandparents, everyone. We stayed in one of the mansion-size cabins associated with Dollywood and spent several days in the park (in addition to getting lost trying to find our white water rafting dock and arguing with my mother about buying a pair of real boots because my feet had finally stopped growing). It was a great trip. It was also then that my youngest sister, Erin, began her obsession with Dolly Parton.

Three-Paws Gambit
The sun, a decadent smear of pinks and golds, drips over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the rooftops and spilling into the sea below. From where I sit on my perch—a stoop outside a shuttered bakery—the islands scattered across the water look like inkblots, dark smudges on the molten gold of the horizon. Above it all, on the geriatric carcass of an old transmission tower near the shoreline, Three-Paws Gambit stretches with the grace of a seasoned queen. Her fur catches the last light, a calico mosaic against the twilight. The faint undead hum of the electric transformer beneath her seems to resonate with her purr, like some strange symphony of waves and wires.

Caught in Time: A Glimpse into a Powerful Moment

An Exhausted Hummingbird Finds Her Second Wind. Honorable Mention in Through the Lens Challenge.
Have you ever heard arguing hummingbirds? It's an entertaining rumble of hovering madness to behold; they dip and dart in circles, peeping and pestering their opponent. Then they disappear as quickly as they zoomed in, as if all arguments were forgiven.

The Blue Rose, Synchronicity, and the Surreal Stream
Just look at this random collection of junk and jewel! Winter seems a time of challenge, does it not? It is therefore in this spirit that I again challenge my self to pick through the daunting stream of consciousness for a piece reflecting on time or the lack thereof.
