More than cornfields

All the beautiful views

By Katelyn MartinPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

Who would have thought that Nebraska could look so pretty? I’ve heard so many people say how surprised they are that Nebraska is more than just cornfields. I will agree that there are cornfields EVERYWHERE but we have plenty of other beautiful views like the sunflower field pictures above. My love for sunflowers has grown so much the past couple of years and I’ve realized how pretty they are. A friend and I even went to a sunflower orchard just so we could take pictures with all the flowers.

Foggy Saturday morning

The fog is so crazy here sometimes but it’s worth it for the amazing pictures I can get. I absolutely love photography and always thought I would go to college for it but that did it seem to work out. I think I took the picture above just after 6am on the weekend right outside my work. I’m not required to work the weekends, it’s optional but I’m so happy I decided to go in that day otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten that picture.

Another picture of lighter fog as I was leaving my neighborhood at the end of summer/ beginning of fall. Something about the fog is so peaceful, calming, but also frightening. I absolutely love my hometown for all the beautiful views.

Lake days

Another thing I live about my hometown is all the adventures you get to have. You wouldn’t believe that this beautiful lake is in the smaller towns of Nebraska. This is a private lake but I think that’s what’s kept this lake such a nice place.

4th of July after the fireworks

Another lake picture, but the cloudiness in the air after all the fireworks ended made up for a stunning picture; especially with the glow of the moon.

Wintery mix

I actually took this picture probably a year or two ago when I was on my way to an appointment. Again we have fog but it was also a mix of rain, snow, and ice. The view was too amazing not to take a picture. Many times we get to experience all four seasons within a day and I think this was one of those days. Sometimes I want to move somewhere warmer because I hate the cold/snow with a passion but then I remember all the views that I would never get to see if I did. This place will forever be home to me, even with all the things that have happened recently. Including riots downtown and fast food related shootings, if I ever decide to move away, I’ll always find a way back. Some people want to move away from there home towns the second they are out of school but it’s home to me and I don’t think I could ever do it.

Sunsets to dream about

This last picture was taken only a week ago outside my home. The day was ending and it had definitely been a stressful one (long day at work) and by the time I pulled into the driveway and got out of my car I was welcomed with this sunset. I will never get tired of the beautiful pictures Nebraska let’s me capture.
