'Looks Photoshopped'. Top Story - April 2018.
"Looks Photoshopped." Two words you see every day on social media (if you frequent any pages or groups that encourage photo sharing). Two words that annoy the hell out of me and probably any photographers/artists/graphic designers who sees them. It's such a nondescript, passive aggressive attack on someone's work and it does nothing but flag up the commenter's inability to understand or constructively address something that is beyond their capability.

Try B&W Film: Take It Back to Basics
As a new photographer, I was inevitably attracted to colour images. I saw greyscale as something for old family portraits or the photography class at my local high school. Growing up in an era dominated by the internet, my initial inspiration was, of course, found on apps such as Instagram and Pinterest. These apps are filled with bright, saturated colour images, focused on bokeh (background blur) and neon lights. I knew nothing about the ins and out of photography, but I believed that I could create something as impressive as the accounts that filled my feed. Eventually, I strayed from digital photography to take up an interest in analog (film) photography. This led me to black and white, which I believe to be the purest form of photography.

The Many Faces of Flowers
The beauty of flowers is that no matter the angle you photograph them at, they are still beautiful. Yes, I know that everything has been done before when it comes to photographing flowers but it's not about everyone else, it is about you (the photographer). Flower photography can force you to strengthen your creative side and your soft side. For example, in the photo above may not be an amazing photo but in my eyes, I can imagine the three flowers morphing into some flower zombie with its arms swaying out in front of it. We all get stuck in a non-healthy cycle of work and get bombarded with stress and depression. Because of this, I recommend that you take a few minutes out of your day and photograph flowers, rather you use a camera or a phone, the goal is to spark your imagination and to help lower stress. For example, I am a full-time graduate student and in the middle of writing all of my 5,000 page papers I find that a 15 minute walk tends to help relax my mind and get me past my writer's block.

Best Street Photographers to Follow on Instagram
Compared to other types of photography, street photography is a whole new world. It's nothing like nature photography where you get the same idea: taking photos of flowers, rivers, mountains. No, for street photography, there are an unlimited amount of ways you can capture anything on photo. Since the streets of a city are always changing, the people are unique, the atmosphere is diverse, and the city is the perfect place for street photographers to play in.

Flash! An Insight on Toronto-Based Photography
Flick! Schick! Click! Chad Kalaska (alias: chadkalaska) sits in the Starbucks at Yonge and King, in Toronto, sipping from his favourite drink, a Caramel Macchiato. He fashioned a bobby pin on his denim jean jacket, wears a vibrant orange hoodie, black cropped pants, and hiked up I LOVE UGLY socks to avoid concealment by his velcro Vans shoes. His grey eyes analyze his Sony 50mm lens as they snap onto his camera and flings his tribal patterned camera strap over his buzzed head. “My dad gave me this strap,” he explains, “and it’s one of the main things other photographers recognize me by.” He walks out of Starbucks to be greeted by afternoon sunshine, taking a quick snapshot of a fire truck on duty. This is a good day for photography.

These iPhone X Camera Attachment Lenses Will Take Your Photography To The Next Level
If you ask any major photographer which smartphone has the best camera, they'll tell you it's the iPhone X. It's not surprising, though. Apple has always been known for having great phones with even greater cameras. In fact, some full-featured movies have been shot with iPhones in recent years.

Urban Exploration (Urbex): The 'Why'. Top Story - April 2018.
Urban exploration, simply put, is the exploration of buildings and places that have been "left behind" or abandoned, and are now in a state of dereliction and disrepair or ruin. Buildings visited range from stately homes to lowly farmhouses, hospitals and asylums, to factories and mills. Also popular are churches or other places of worship, hotels, schools, and even prisons—however, any built infrastructure lends potential.

I Photographed Backstage at London Fashion Week and Didn't Know What I Was Doing
At age 19, one of my teachers tagged me in a post on Instagram. Yes, I did and still do have my teachers on Instagram, they always give major social media support. The post that my teacher sent me was "Backstage photographers wanted for London Fashion Week." At this point in my life, I had absolutely no training in any form of photography; however, I have this habit where I apply for things on a whim. Before I knew it I had applied to photograph backstage at London Fashion Week and thought nothing of it, About a week or two later, I received an email from a lady saying that they would love me to be a part of their team in shooting with them.
