Wolfy Scissorpaws

The story of a young pup hoping to find his furever home where he'll be loved and accepted for who he is.

By A LynnPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Once there was a floppy-eared pup named Wolfy. He had a curly tail, large, floppy ears and white spots on his chest, chin and throat. Wolfy was a pup of a strange caliber and many people avoided him due to their own fears and assumptions. He was the sweetest soul who just wanted to be loved. Unfortunately, he was a pup with scissors for paws.

Wolfy does not remember much about his time before that day. The mystery of the scissor paws has never been solved. His mom did not know what happened to him, but she fondly remembers when she found him. When they cuddle on the couch or when they’re out for a walk, Wolfy and his mom are always thankful for the day they met.

Wolfy remembers because it was the best and scariest day of his life. Running along a highway, little baby Wolfy tried to get someone to help him. He’d jump up on them, and accidentally cut them. They’d scream and push him or run away. They would often even throw things at him.

He just wanted to have something to eat and some water. He couldn’t remember when he ate last. A bed inside a comfy home was all he dreamed of. Terrified, Wolfy eventually stopped jumping on people. People would still try to approach, but he’d bark a warning.

“I want a home,” he’d sob, “but I will hurt you with my Scissor paws.”

Wolfy howled and cried along the side of the road, wondering if anyone would choose to care for him. Night had fallen and Wolfy began to shiver. Another set of headlights made him duck his face, hiding.

A woman got out of the car, holding a big blanket in her hands. She also held something yummy smelling in her hand. Beef! Salmon! Wolfy perked up, watching the woman but not daring to hope.

“Be careful!” Wolfy barked. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Don’t worry, sweet boy, you’re going to come home with me. You might have scissors for paws, but we all have something others might not accept. I’ll accept you for who you are. I’ll love you AND your scissor paws.”

She wrapped Wolfy up in the thick blanket, his scissor paws making small slices in the fabric, but it was so thick and tough that it didn’t break through. Wolfy braced himself as he was lifted up and walked over to the passenger side. He was placed gently in the front passenger seat before the woman walked around and got in herself.

Once seated, the woman opened a paper box. Wolfy sniffed the air with excitement, his tail wagging. Beef and Salmon! The warm food was sat directly in front of him and he took it as an invitation to dive in.

“Good boy!” the woman giggled.

After the paper box was licked clean, Wolfy curled up in a ball and the sweet puppy was snoozing away within seconds. Relief washed over him and he fell so deeply asleep that he didn’t even realize when she carried him out of the car and into her home.

The kind lady sat next to Wolfy, scratching his head, his floppy ears, his silky smooth black fur. Wolfy rolled onto his back, hoping for a tummy rub. He was so comfortable, he forgot about his scissor paws.

“Aren’t you just the cutest,” she cooed. “You don’t have to worry about those scissor paws with me. I’m already covered in scars and I know you can learn how to not hurt others. I believe in you.”

Wolfy’s amber eyes blinked open and up at the woman’s face. He barked his puppy bark and licked her hand.

“This is your forever home. I’ll take care of you no matter what.”

And that’s how Wolfy Scissorpaws found a home that loved him as he was, his furever home.
