Spoiled Pitbulls in the Workplace

Maverick and Blanca are rescued pitties.

I rescued Maverick a year before I rescued Blanca, both of them came from Eli's Legacy Animal Rescue in Carthage Texas.

Maverick went everywhere with me from the day I brought him home to this very day.

I recieved a call from Eli's one year later about Blanca, and Maverick and I went to meet her and I brought her home.

Both Maverick and Blanca now go everywhere with me.

We have a routine that is our normal, we go to Starbucks, on a daily basis, and everyone at our local Starbucks knows them by name and they always have some type of treat for them.

They go to work with me every day and all of my customers know them and they spoil both of them like they are little kids. Maverick and Blanca have been daily fixtures at my job since I got them, neither dog is aggressive they love to play with the kids that come in. I have a few customers that will take them riding with their kids for about an hour and then bring them back, with all sorts of things, such as a burger or fries or toys.

I have customers bring them, blankets to lay on or beds so they don't have to lay on the floor, Christmas they are spoiled, by everyone, we usually work Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day and so the neighborhood where we work, makes sure that we have Christmas lunch and dinner and they bring the dogs, baskets with snacks, toys, blankets and clothes to help keep them warm. Maverick loves to wear sweaters, and t-shirts. Blanca will wear them for a little time and she always finds a way to get them off. Her favorite thing is one of my boyfriends t- shirts that she can sleep on. Maverick and Blanca can’t stand to be serperated from each other, they have been this way since the day that they have met.

Maverick and Blanca have their pick of who they want to go riding with, or who they want to play with. Both of them love the kids they stay behind the counter with me at work, but let them hear a kid and there is no stopping them from going to love on them.

They love attention, especially when they get spoiled. But they will spoil you back with kisses. Both dogs like to play with the kids that come to work, and will follow them around the store. Most of the time whatever the kids have in their hands they share with the dogs, and they know it.

Everyone is so used to them being there at work with me that, when I don't bring them to work they ask me what is wrong, and why the dogs aren't there.

The customers and I joke around that the dogs are more valuable than I am. Both of the dogs have been therapy for me and a lot of the customers, over the time that they have been around. There are a lot of people who have been understanding about the dogs and why they spend time at the store with all of us. No matter what kind of day that any of us are having, Maverick and Blanca can make it better.

They have taught us a lot of things, looks can be decieving, to have compassion, understanding, patience, and how to love each other no matter what, and the one thing that all of the customers have learned is that pit bulls are not as bad as the stigma that is attached to their breed.
