Renovating with Shinyu! Episode One
The Living Room, Part One

Hello! My name is Shinyu, and I'm a shiba-inu from Saskatchewan, Canada who loves home renovations. My house is pretty nice, but it could totally be better. So, last year I started marking all the things that need renovating or refurbishment in my home ...with my teeth. That's right, if I see something that's not quite right - or maybe something that just looks reaaaally tasty - I chew on it to let my pawrents know!
My pawrents finally decided to start working on all my recommended renovations, starting with my special corner of the living room. This corner is my favorite because there's a nice soft chair in between two windows, which gives me a good view of everything going on outside - when I'm not having a nice nap in the sunshine. I even have my own blankie, and my toy bin in this corner.
It started out looking like the picture above - but where all the pink stuff is were big huge holes, my special 'renovate' markings. Now, it looks like this:

My Mama did a really good job patching the holes, sanding them down, and painting. Unless you go up close to the walls, you can hardly see that some of the beadboard lines are a little crooked. She even washed my chair blankie, and added some new plants.
Daddy said that he 'wouldn't mind if the house turned into a jungle' and Mama took that as some kind of challenge, so there's way more plants than before - and probably more on the way. I'll have to have a plant tasting later on when she's not looking.

Mama also cleaned up and reorganized the bar cart along with the family altar, and plant house. The bar cart is made from an antique 1860s bar cart that's set onto casters. The family altar is a place to remember people - and the cat, Hissabelle, who still haunts our hallways. Sometimes, she tries to push my off my chair because it was her chair first, but she's a bit incorporeal being a ghost and all.
I helped my Mama clean up by stealing her dirty paper towels when she was done with them! She really needed a bit of a run around to keep her on her toes, you know.

Mama keeps saying that our house is decorated 'nerdy but stylish.' I'm not really sure what this means, but we have things like this Dungeons and Dragons tray, which my Mama painted. She's an arteest - can you tell?

I always thought Mama's art was her therapy, but she kept mumbling about the plants and wine being therapy when she was cleaning. Maybe humans just need lots of varieties of therapy, just like I need lots of variety in my toys and snackies?
That's all we've got for this first episode of Renovating with Shinyu. Next time, we're going to be working our way through the other side of our living room. There's plenty more patching, painting, cleaning, organizing, decorating to go - and even a new indoor herb garden to set up! Let the junglefication continue.

This is such a cute story! It's funny how Shinyu marks the spots that need fixing with teeth. Made me think of my own home projects. I've had to patch up holes in walls too, though not because of a furry family member. It's cool how they transformed the corner. And all those plants sound great. Do you think Shinyu will actually taste the new plants? I'm curious if they'll cause any more "renovation" needs!
