Puppy Training: What Type of organized training Should I Use?
Puppy training can mean a lot of things. The training that you give your puppy will be in three, five or more categories. The first is house training; the second is behavior training; and the third is obedience training.
Puppy training can mean a lot of things. The training that you give your puppy will be in three, five or more categories. The first is house training; the second is behavior training; and the third is obedience training.
Before you get into more details about each of these categories, it is important for you to understand that there are Graduations from each.
A dog that has accomplishments in all three categories will be a Year One dog, which is a dog that can handle the occasional messes in the house that their behavior training has taught them.
Additionally, a dog can graduate from basic to intermediate obedience, depending on how the owner handles the dog when they are in the puppy training phase. The puppy will earn the reward that is associated with the behavior.
As the puppy is able to display the several different obedience behaviors, the owner can move on to intermediate obedience.
And so, if you are working with a dog that has medium obedience, it simply means that they have mastered the basic commands and the couplet of moderate obedience.
In this type of training, the owner will have to take a hands on approach with the puppy. They must work with the pet owner as a whole to encourage the puppy to follow commands in an aggressive manner.
This is something that will have to be worked on for a period of time. The aggression may not manifest itself immediately, but it may and should as the dog matures.
The puppy may start to display a more pronounced aggression at this stage, and the owner needs to be vigilant. However, if the aggression is still mild, it is not the end of the world.
The key is to remain calm. Many people make the mistake of thinking that the aggression will just grow out of the moment and just be there, reserved for later.
One of the best methods that will show leadership on the owner's part is to never tolerate aggression of any kind.
If the aggression even shows mild signs, you should consult a professional in order to stop the problem.
Many owners have a tendency to hug their dogs when they are little. This is fine, but should be done after a greeting, as you will be making a very important visual association with the puppy.
This is fine for an adult dog, but it could mean danger to your puppy.
There are so many reasons that a dog's aggression can be a problem. The first thing that you should consider is why you have a puppy.
Were you aware that aggression is caused by many different things? Take a look at the tag, and see if it says aggressive tendencies.
Was your dog put in the pound because he was aggressive, or did someone cut him off because they were afraid of him? Were you given an option to either be nice to him, or would you be advisable to keep the dog chained until he grows up?
There are many reasons why a dog becomes aggressive, the only way to learn how to solve this problem is by getting expert advice. Do not ignore your dog's aggression towards others, but at the same time do not reinforce the aggression.
When walking dogs, or meeting up with other dogs, there are good, and bad, ways to deal with this. Leash training is generally a good method, teaching you how to take a few steps back to command your dog to stay put.
There are also certain sprays, such as muzzles, that can be used by protective owners to ward off aggressive dogs. However, you should never reach for a muzzle in order to discipline your dog.
Training your dog can be a difficult task and will have to be handled with a patient disposition. With the right understanding, and a little patience, you may be able to stop your dog's aggression.
