Oscar: Introduction

Hey there,

So, this is my first ever story! I really should introduce myself...

*oh no, I forgot*

Well, by now you probably know that I am Becca. I love The Office (US version—obviously the better version). Reading, writing, movies and all things cultural are what I enjoy best. But to top off it all, I love my doggo, Oscar, the most. He's the absolutely the light of my life, and it's time that you got to know him!

*get hyped*

Let's start at the very beginning—a very good place to start.

This is baby Oscar. He is a Cockapoo, which means that he is part Cocker Spaniel and part Poodle. Poodles are classed as one of the most intelligent breeds of dog, however, this trait is not necessarily obvious when it comes to Oscar as he is rather more silly.

Oscar was born on the 7th of February 2016. He's an Aquarius.

His full name is Oscar Theodore Wilde (insert my surname). The names "Oscar" and "Wilde" come from the respective writer and poet, whose work I greatly admire—plus, Oscar definitely has a very "Wilde" side. "Theodore" is a name that comes from the Greek, meaning divine gift. I'm not particularly religious, but I definitely believe Oscar is on that level of special!

My family and I weren't actually expecting to have Oscar, but me being me, I was looking on the internet for dogs for sale in our area and I came across Oscar and his siblings. Having done some research on the breed, I persuaded my family to go look at the puppies. Of course, we were completely taken with their cuteness, so we left, that day, with little Oscar in our arms.

We brought him home when he was two months old. And he had such a personality! He can sometimes be quite sassy—you can probably tell from the side-eye he's giving in this photo—although, it's always good humoured. He's the sweetest little boy with the warmest heart. I wouldn't change him for the world!

Flash-Forward to Now!

As you can tell, Oscar has grown quite considerably! At over 2 and a half years old, Oscar is finally beginning to grow out of his mischievous streak and becoming more mature with each day. He is relatively reactive to other dogs, in a non-aggressive but loud way, as he barks at them a lot. However, this is something that we're working on together and he has improved a lot!

Overall, Oscar means the world to me and I practically love him as though he's my own son! He gives me purpose every single day and without fail manages to melt my heart with just a simple cuddle.
