Night walk
Favourite night walk with my best friend

Our family dog is a Keplie cross German Shepherd. He is one of the most loving dogs I’ve ever had in my life and our whole family loves him to bits. He has such a beautiful personality despite his past. He was rescued from the pound as his previous owners just told him to run away as he was the runt of the litter. And due to his previous mistreatment he only gets along with one or two other dogs. However, we are doing our best to teach him that other dogs are alright to be around, and he doesn’t need to be so hostile to other dogs. I just can’t wait to work hard with him and continuing his training to bring much more of his fun loving side out of him. I truly believe one day we may be able to go and allow him to have more doggy friends and truly enjoy life much more.
One of my favourite time I’ve spent with him was on one of our night time walks. Where we almost had the world to ourselves on a peaceful walk. It always takes my breathe away, with how eager he is to get out of the house and explore as much of the world as he possibly can.
And it’s because of him that I am actually able to stop and relax and really take in what nature as to offer. Such as the family of ducks swimming together in the pond without a care in the world, and listening to the ducklings chirping away at their parents, and listening to the frogs croaking away.
Then we got to the empty dog park. And when I finally get to let him off the leash, he just has this sudden burst of energy. He starts off by exploring all the different smells that he can pick up from other dogs that come to the park throughout the day. And then he starts running around the whole park as fast and for as long as he can possibly go, as I’m trying my best to keep up with him which I’m never able to. It just makes me so happy to see him really enjoy the dog park like he does, as it’s like I’ve taken him to the best theme park in the world.
And then when his ready to go home and exhausted himself so much we take a quite walk home. And once we get home he is always hungry and almost eats as if it’s the last time he ever is going to be feed and drinks a whole bowl of water. Then we always go outside for the last time of the night, before we snuggle up in bed together.
From morning to night he is the best dog our family could ever ask for. As he is gentle and protective of my one year old son. But can also play rough when my boyfriend plays with him. And always willing to greet the neighbours as well as the kids who run past every now and again. And can be so calm and relax to energetic and full of life.
At the end of the day he is much more then just a pet as our family sees him as a true member of the family. And we are prepared to help him through the rough times to give him the best life he can possibly have. We just need to take one step at a time and we will get there. I can’t wait for much more adventures we can have together.
