Mellow and Snow: The Ruckus-able Rabbits
Mellow the mischievous and Snow the Sneaky at it again.

I have never met anyone who has an obsession with rabbits as much as I do. Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted a rabbit of my own. But that didn't come true until September 28, 2020, when I went to the Animal Care Centers of New York City and adopted a bonded pair named Mellow and Snow. It was funny because I wanted to adopt Mellow at first. She's a Holland Lop (my favorite breed). My boyfriend Dave loved Snow the moment he laid on her. So, it worked out because they were a bonded pair anyway.
And honestly, it was the universe telling me these little ones belonged to me. Finally, On October 12, 2020, we brought them home to their forever home.
Mellow and Snow are free-roam rabbits meaning they can go where ever they want. My room, the living room, the bathroom, etc. You name it. In regards to doing what they want? Well, that's limited to an extent because I live with one other roommate. It's been almost a month now; hence, I can get a sense of their personality.
I don't always leave them alone, but when I do, I know they have each other... and that's the perfect time to make trouble when I'm away! Ah, the power of two rabbits playing and adventuring when mommy is away. You know that they "say," two heads are better than one.
As a rabbit mother, I know they get troublesome when I start to miss them. That probably didn't make any sense, but you get it.
I never imagined the possible things they could do when I'm not there, but I always caught them in the aftermath (see image below).

In the past, I would stay at Dave's for one night during the week. Back at my apartment, it's quiet and empty all around. Here's what I think they're up to:
On an early fall evening, Mellow and Snow would come out from under the bed to converse somewhat of a plan (It makes sense because rabbits are neat and they like order. Or do they?)
Anyways, with their rabbit senses, the conversation would most likely go like this:
* in high pitch small cute voice
Mellow: Okay, I think the coast is clear. The humans are gone. (twitches nose profusely)
Snow: What's the matter?
Mellow: Ah nothing. I was making some poops on the carpet. She won't like that.
Snow: That's perfect! Hey, lets sleep on her soft bed. I'm full from dinner.
Mellow: I have a better idea.
Snow: Why do I always follow your orders when I'm the dominant bunny?
Mellow: Because the things I think of makes our human love us even more.
Snow: Are you sure Shmellow Mellow?
Mellow: *nods head
Snow: Okay, what's the plan?
Mellow: Make Ruckus!
Snow: Yeah! Ruckus! That's payback for picking me up today.
From dust bunnies to ruckus-able rabbits, Mellow the mischievous and Snow the sneaky went their separate ways.
With my bedroom door wide open, Mellow heavily hops from one place to another with her large whittle paws. She will run from my room to my roommate's room, rummaging under his bed to find cardboard to chew. She spends quite some time there.
Since the room is so dark, she manages to see an Amazon package, a card board box of letters, and a lightbulb. She goes for the cardboard box because that's her favorite material to chew. You know, making sure she leaves her mark.
Mellow then moves to the bathroom, wondering why the smell is a little funky. She moves over to see my dangling towel and without a thought, pulls it down and starts to chew and chew and chew, again.
Once she was back in the living room, she smells the strong scent of pellets! Yes, she notices the big bag of pellets on top of the big box of hay. As she moves closer to it, she jumps on top of the box and knocks it down with her head. With the bag completely not sealed (thanks to me), hundreds of little pellets spilled out onto the wooden floor.
It was heaven for Mellow. She proceeds to eat, and eat, and eats. She's probably thinking what's better than being a big bunny. Being a bigger bunny!
Having a belly full of pellets, she starts to make her way back to my room, hopping fast, then she's homebound.
While Mellow makes her way back, Snow starts to take all the newspapers lining out from the litter box, tearing it apart piece by piece. With her ability to spread things out with her little paws, she pushes the newspapers with traces of pellets, hay, and urine-stained paper ALL over their bed. Every inch is covered.
By pivoting a little to the right, she lightly hops onto my bed. She starts rolls around at a 360-degree angle while feeling the satisfaction of her owner cleaning this mess in the morning.
As a gesture for rabbits, Snow does her human a favor by peeing on the bed. A symbol that perpetuates "I claim this property now." She then hops to my stuff animal rabbit, Truc Jr., and looks at it. Her real fur touches the fake fur. She feels its soft texture and cuddles next to it, slowly making herself comfortable.
After a while, Mellow signals Snow back on the ground.

After a night of unfathomable ruckuses, Mellow and Snow lay flatly on their usual spot, rubbing heads against each other:
After a night of unfathomable ruckuses, Mellow and Snow lay flatly on their usual spot, rubbing heads against each other:
Mellow: Huh, I'm tired. Ate too many pellets...
Snow: I'm hungry. I want bananas...
Mellow: You always want bananas.
Snow: So do you.
Mellow: Hm, I guess we're both bananas!
Mellow and Snow: Mua haha!
THE END.
