Meet LeLe and Luna — The Two Cats Who Run My Life

The beginning of my journey as a writer, cat dad, and quiet observer of life.

🐱 Introduction

They say you don’t choose cats — cats choose you.

In my case, I got chosen twice.

I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a cat dad. Pets were cute, sure, but I always thought they were for people with more time, bigger homes, or less hectic lives. But somewhere between long work hours, quiet evenings, and that creeping sense that something was missing — two little lives entered mine, and suddenly, everything shifted.

Cats don’t arrive with a big bang. They arrive with soft paws and unblinking stares. And somehow, they manage to rearrange your world completely — without moving a single piece of furniture.

🐾 The Royals of the House

The first time, it was a cream-coloured puffball who blinked slowly at me like I was furniture. Her name is LeLe. She’s elegant, independent, and the undisputed queen of her domain. She doesn’t meow unless there’s a royal decree to be announced — usually that her bowl is one kibble short of satisfaction.

She walks like she owns the place (because she does), and every new item brought into the house must pass her inspection. Try placing a cardboard box in the living room — she’ll sit in it for exactly four seconds, then decide it’s beneath her. Leave a suitcase out? It becomes her throne.

LeLe is the kind of cat who exudes quiet confidence. She doesn’t need to be the center of attention — she simply is. And if you earn her affection? That slow blink, that single paw placed on your lap? It feels like you’ve been knighted.

Then came Luna, a grey little shadow who made herself at home by swatting LeLe in the face on day one. She’s younger, a little clingy, and incredibly expressive. She follows me like a curious intern, always wanting to know what I’m doing — whether I’m brushing my teeth, scrolling on my phone, or just staring at the wall in a post-meeting daze.

Where LeLe is grace, Luna is chaos. She crashes Zoom calls, dives into bags, and once tried to scale the curtains like a mountain goat. She chirps at birds through the window, tries to steal toast off my plate, and brings unmatched drama to her 3am zoomies.

And yet — somehow — they balance each other. And me.

🐾 The Life They Gave Me

Together, they’ve completely changed how I live.

I used to fill every hour of my day with work, distractions, or noise. But these two? They force me to slow down. To sit still. To listen. Sometimes to furballs being ejected dramatically, but mostly — to myself.

There’s something special about being observed by a cat.

It’s not judgement. It’s presence.

LeLe watches me like she’s seen it all before.

Luna watches me like she’s figuring it out in real time.

Their routines became my new rhythm. Mornings now begin with LeLe standing on my chest, reminding me that breakfast is non-negotiable. Evenings often end with Luna curled behind my knees, purring softly like a living white noise machine.

I’ve memorised their nap patterns, their snack preferences, the specific look LeLe gives me when the air-conditioning is too cold for her taste. I know the sound Luna makes when she’s about to knock something over “accidentally-on-purpose.”

I never thought I’d become the kind of person who bought seasonal toys for pets, or spent 20 minutes choosing the right litter. But here I am — and honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

🐾 A Thousand Silent Conversations

I’ve learned to navigate their moods, their rituals, their tiny wars over who gets the prime sunbeam on the floor. I’ve come to respect their boundaries, and to marvel at their ability to live so freely and unapologetically.

They don’t care how many unread emails I have.

They care that I’m five minutes late with dinner.

They don’t understand deadlines. But they understand when I’m tired.

They curl up next to me. No words. Just weight, warmth, and purring.

And I’ve learned to appreciate the magic in that silence. There’s comfort in their quiet company — the kind that doesn’t ask questions, doesn’t offer advice, doesn’t need anything but presence.

Cats are masters of stillness. Of patience. Of knowing exactly when to insert themselves into your space — and when to simply exist beside you.

On days when the world feels heavy — it’s their quiet company that makes me feel grounded again.

🐾 My Home, Our World

This isn’t just a house I live in anymore.

It’s a home we share.

There are fur tumbleweeds under the bed, scratch marks on the dining chair, and catnip mice in the most unexpected places. But there’s also warmth, laughter, and life in every corner.

Two cats. One human.

And a thousand silent conversations that say more than words ever could.

They didn’t just move into my home — they moved into my heart.
