Life With My Human
I wake up and paw at my snout, wipe my eyes, and stretch.
I offer the idea of a little yoga by doing my downward doggies and tip toe in just a little closer awaiting for her eyes to open. That is when I know I am allowed to act all crazy, licking her face, and doing my little wiggle.
"It’s morning! We get to play! We get to play," I say barking as loud as I possibly can!
I love how excited she is to see me every morning. She never gets that excited to see any human like that. Not even that male human that has been spending the night here every now and then.
Nope! I am her true love!
She connects me to a string so that we don’t get separated, that way I don’t lose her, and we walk every morning.
We walk down the street, in the park, around a big bowl of water, and sometimes we go spend the night outside for days. That way she is free to walk around without her leash. I have her trained.
She has a pretty good diet most of the time. I on the other hand, I keep it simple. Just kibbles and bits for me! I am watching my K9 figure.
I am extremely faithful and loyal. I don’t see anyone else waiting for her every single day to come home and when she does return, she is always happy to see me. Whether she is gone for five hours or five minutes, I greet her as if I have not seen her for days!
She can do tricks too! I paw at her, and she pets me, I bark at her, and she feeds me, and then I scratch at the back door, and she lets me out!
"Aww, you’re such a good human," I tell her. She understands and pats me on the head saying, "Thank you...good boy!" She is grateful I take the time to train her and make her a better human!
Sometimes she gets sad, and she cries. I go and grab my torn-up baby we share in times of sadness and put it next to her. It always brings at least a little smile to her face, and we just lay there in each other’s arms going through the hard times together. I lick her tears off her face and try to be silly by wiggling my butt in the air, baiting her to play. My silliness always changes her mood, and she starts smiling again.
Then there are the times when we fight a little. I always wind-up giving in though. I tuck my head down and curl my tail in showing submission. It is not my fault I pooped in the house; you did not leave the door open while you were gone. I tried to make it outside.
She can’t stay mad at me long because when I poop again outside after scolding me, she is happy and proud of me, and it is as if nothing happened!
Yes, life is great with my human. We have gone on many adventures and have met so many people together. I sniff out the good ones and growl at the bad ones. Maybe if she listened to me a little more, she would not go through so much heartache but, I guess she just loves to learn lessons repeatedly.
I on the other hand give them a sniff in the butt to see how much poop they are full of and be on my way if their butt stinks. I don’t need to learn that lesson twice!
We have spent many years together and the years are starting to show on my face and in my bones. Soon it will be time for me to go but first it is important for you to understand that I will love you in this life and the next. I hope that you will never forget me. I hope that when I come back, I get to be a human exactly like you. You have shown me unconditional love. Thank you for spending my life with me. I am honored to have spent mine with you.
