Six years ago, Ruca, my beloved pittie, came into my life, bringing joy and unconditional love with her wagging tail and playful spirit. However, our journey together took an unexpected turn when Ruca was diagnosed with Mass Tumor Cancer shortly after joining our family. The vet's prognosis was disheartening; they predicted that Ruca had only two years left to live. Determined to make every moment count, I embarked on a mission to give Ruca her best life possible. This is in every aspect of her daily life from having the highest quality food to driving four hours to swim in her favorite lake.

From Cancer Survivor To Adventure Buddy

Over the course of the next year, Ruca underwent six intensive surgeries and endured grueling rounds of chemotherapy. Witnessing her strength and resilience throughout this challenging process was nothing short of inspiring. Each day, she fought bravely, and her unwavering spirit became a guiding light for me. After receiving clearance from the vet and building up her strength, Ruca could finally go outside and enjoy the world again. During this time, I made a promise to give her the best life imaginable and to make every adventure count.

Essentials For The Outdoors

Today, you can often find Ruca, my partner, and me embarking on exciting outdoor escapades together. Backpacking, camping, swimming in crystal-clear lakes, and embarking on all-day adventures have become our norm. These outdoor activities have not only allowed Ruca to experience the wonders of nature, but they have also become an integral part of my own happiness. Sharing these moments with my furry companion has given me a profound sense of fulfillment and joy. When going on these journeys, I make sure to pack all her essentials including blankets, water, proper ID tags, lifejacket, and of course her favorite food, Ollie.

Finding Balance With Ollie Fresh Dog Food

During chemo, Ruca had little to no appetite, it broke my heart because I know how much she loves food. Once she was in recovery, I knew I wanted to give her the best quality food, not only for her to get her tastebuds back and enjoy it as much as possible, but to ensure I was doing everything to keep her as healthy as possible with the highest quality nutrient-rich option. And so I started Ollie!

Before heading out on an epic hike with Ruca, we make sure she's had a delicious, balanced meal. Ollie's meals give Ruca the fuel she needs to remain focused and energized throughout the entire journey. Each meal is packed with both meat and plant-based ingredients for a balanced mix of proteins and vitamins. Ollie uses fresh, human-grade ingredients for all of its recipes without the extra fillers and preservatives found in other dog food recipes. Veterinary nutritionists work alongside Ollie to ensure that each meal is developed and portioned for each individual dog’s needs. This gives me comfort especially in Ruca’s recovering health state. Animal proteins such as chicken, beef, turkey, or lamb are the first ingredient in every meal and are key to maintaining muscle and tissue health in dogs. Ollie takes the lifestyle of each individual dog in mind when recommending a meal plan. After filling out a quick quiz about Ruca, we were given a personalized meal plan based on her breed, age, weight, lifestyle, and any potential allergies or other sensitivities.
