Is it better for cats to be kept loose or in a cage? We need to know that cats are by nature hunting, and they prefer to live free than this, so they should not be kept in a cage for a long time.

Cats kept in cages for a long time have these 7 major disadvantages.

1. Definition of cage keeping

The cat's range of activities is only in the cage, including eating, defecating, resting and playing, and other daily behaviors, which is the meaning of cage breeding. Occasionally because the owner is out for a short time, this is not considered to be caged.

2, the bad side of cage breeding

(1) Depression

Some cats are confined to a cage to clean up after themselves, but doing so, is only convenient for them, cats are the kind of animals that are active by nature and like to climb, so they are confined in a small cage for a long time, just like a bird losing the sky.

Cats locked in cages are not released by nature, and long-term depression, depression, and loss of interest in everything, such cats very easy to suffer from depression.

(2) Poor development

A healthy and strong cat is inseparable from exercise. Long-term caged cats are severely under-exercised, especially those still in their formative years, which will lead to slow bone development and even stunting, and their bodies will become weaker and weaker, with reduced resistance, which will then induce many diseases.

(3) Obesity

Cats in the cage only eat every day, it is easy to suffer from obesity, and the source of many diseases are caused by obesity, these diseases may greatly shorten the life of the cat, so if you do not want your cat to leave you so soon, do not cage breeding.

(4) Becoming stupid

Caged cats are not as flexible as free-range cats, and because they stay in the cage for a long time and rarely interact with the outside world, they will slowly become timid, and with little interest in new things, their learning ability will become weaker.

(5) Digestion becomes poor

This problem is also due to the lack of exercise, by only eating every day, the body consumes less energy, and natural, digestion will become slower, over time, the cat's digestive system function will become very weak, and it is easy to bloating accumulation of food, and also cause diarrhea or constipation.

(6) Fertility difficulties

Cats living in cages for a long time will have reduced fertility, especially male cats; while female cats will be aggressive towards their cubs, and once the cubs leave the cage, the mother cat will quickly bring back the kittens.

(7) Mental problems

Cats are in cages for a long time, because there are few new things, so they spend most of the time either sleeping or licking their fur, which is prone to excessive licking; because they want to go out too much, cats will also have mental problems such as restlessness, timidity, and sensitivity.

Long-term caging can cause many problems that are not good for cats, but it does not mean that cats cannot stay in the cage, if there are some special circumstances, it is still possible to be locked in the cage for a short time.

1. Guests at home

Some cats may be more afraid of raw people, so we put them in the cage for a short time instead of better for the cat.

2、Uncomfortable

If the cat has fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, or skin diseases, it is best to let it rest in the cage, so that it can be easily taken care of and not let the cat run around and aggravate its condition.

3、A new cat arrives

If you have a new cat in the house, to prevent fights and accidents, you can put a cat in the cage first to isolate it and let it out again when they are familiar with each other's presence.

4. Pregnancy or nursing period

Mother cats like to be quiet and undisturbed when giving birth, so the cage can be used as a birth base for a mother cat, which can give the cat the greatest sense of security and is more convenient to care for.

Overall, the cage is never a long-term home for cats, and if they are to be temporarily confined in the cage, it should not be for more than three days, we do this for the health of the cat.
