7 Reasons Why Pets Are a Good Idea

Having trouble finding love. Get a Pet.

The need for a furry or feathery companion cannot be overemphasized. This is true especially in a world like ours where human companionship can get very fickle. These furry beings have largely become non-human parts of the family and we cannot deny that they have come here to stay.

While over 50% of the families in the world have these loveable creatures in their families, this article might probably convince the other half of the world’s population to no longer hesitate or have cold feet about getting a pet.

Here are seven convincing reasons why you should consider owning a pet.

1. Pets are a great aid for combating loneliness

A freelancer who spends their days locked indoor and buried deep into work might need a pal to brainstorm ideas with on some days. They might even need a companion to kick back and relax with during breaks. How about the need for someone to share work frustrations with? Someone or something to just talk to and ease off all of the tensions from work?

Pets are a sure option for the scenario painted. A stay-home mum is all alone after her husband and the kids have left. Nothing will be as comforting as having someone, something around to make the home feel less empty. When you think of companionship, pets are reliable options to help satisfy this need. Sure you don’t want to get one now?

2. Owning a pet is beneficial to the health

Have you ever heard of guide dogs? These are dogs that have been trained to lead blind or visually impaired people around obstacles. Besides this aid rendered by dogs, ownership of pets has been tied to a couple of health benefits which include; decreased blood pressure, decreased cholesterol level, increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities, etc. It has also been recorded in recent studies that kids who live with furred animals will have less risk of allergies and asthma, fewer chances of getting eczema, and stronger immune system activation.

3. Pets are Love Magnets

Still single? Why not get a pet? Pet owners usually take them for a walk in the park where other pet owners do the same. Owning a pet might simply be one of the drastic measures you need to take to get your love life up and running again. On one of your walks in the park, you might just get talking to a random stranger about your dog, or cat and the love story begins from there. You will get to share this not-so-unique story at dinners with family and friends. If you aren’t into love stories at the moment, you can just add a new friend to your circle.

4. Pets save lives

There are really interesting stories of how pets have literally saved the lives of their owners. Pets have averted fire outbreaks and building collapse. You should check out the stories of these pets and their owners. Let the forts that have built against owning pets cave in as you learn about their heroic nature.

5. You need an extra dose of laughter in your life

I will encourage you to watch compilations of Tik-Tok videos online and discover the amazing, smart, and extremely comical beings that pets are. In a world that is daily saddening and filled with reasons to panic and question the sanity of the human race, owning pets is one way to create a lighter mood in your space. Ownership of pets equals comedy night just in the comfort of your home.

6. Pets teach you selflessness

People struggle and hustle every day trying to make ends meet and live their dreams, even if they do it selfishly. The world at the moment reeks of the ‘me, myself and I’ mindset. Getting and owning a pet is one way for us to pause and take a break from our very busy lives. We also get to spare some time caring for and doing things for other people and other things besides ourselves. Pets teach us to make out time for the things that matter despite our busy schedules.

7. Pets are photogenic

You would be able to relate on a personal level if you don’t get a pet. Pets are a dose of drama and an overload of cuteness. What’s more? You need the entire smile that relating to such a being will bring into your life. No one has ever been at the doctor’s because they smiled too much. You deserve to smile, deeply, truly.
