Dogs have short attention spans, and training your dog can be time-consuming and frustrating. So, it’s no wonder why many dog owners struggle to get their dogs to pay attention to them! However, it doesn’t have to be this way; there are several simple things you can do to get your dog’s attention back on you and the task at hand. Here are five of the best ways to get your dog’s attention.

1) Play Fetch with Them

One of the best ways you can get your dog to pay attention is by playing a game of fetch with them. If you are busy and don't have time to play, then simply toss a toy around for them to chase. This will get their minds off of whatever might be distracting them and make them focus on what matters most: you. However, if they become too focused on just that one thing (and not paying any attention to you) then distract them by telling them No! in an authoritative voice and making sure they know that it's not okay to ignore you. Don't go back to playing with him or her right away though; wait about ten seconds before starting up again so he or she knows that ignoring you isn't going to get rewarded.

2) Take Them On Walks

1. Take them on walks as often as possible. One of the best ways, and simplest things you can do, is to take your dog on a walk in their neighborhood or down at the local park. Walks are excellent for getting some exercise and it will also help them socialize with other dogs they may come across which will be beneficial for your dog's mental health.

2. Play with them! It doesn't matter if it's a new toy, an old toy that you've saved from past Christmases, or just an old sock - playtime is one of the most effective ways to get your dog to pay attention to what you're doing and make them want more of it. 3.

3) Rub Their Ears

Dogs can get a little distracted sometimes and it's important that they know who the boss is. Rub their ears for a few seconds and their attention will be on you in no time. This is also a great way to get them to stop barking. When your dog starts barking, go up to them, say no and then rub their ears until they're quiet. Repeat this whenever necessary until your dog understands not to bark at the mailman or anyone else that comes by the house when you're not home.

4) Feed Them Healthy Treats

One of the most important things to do when training your dog is to make sure they have their food and water available at all times. This will ensure that they are well-fed, hydrated, and in the right mindset for learning. Another way you can get your dog's attention is by feeding them healthy treats like boiled chicken, oatmeal, carrots, or sweet potatoes. When your dog smells these treats cooking in the kitchen, they'll come running as fast as they can! Make it a routine to cook them a small meal before each training session so that they're eager to learn more. Feed Them Treats Throughout the Day: It's not just during meals where you should give your dog rewards; make sure they know what behaviors please you. If your pup has a favorite toy, make it a point to show appreciation with this toy every day - whether during playtime or when its time for bed. Hide Their Toys Around the House: Dogs love to find new places around the house where their toys might be hidden away from other people - this includes under pillows, between couch cushions, in closets, and behind furniture!

5) Give Them Lots of Love

One of the best ways to get your dog's attention is through love! Make sure that you're always giving them lots of love and affection. Most dogs are very social animals, so when they don't feel loved, it can lead them to acting out in one way or another. Not only will this make your dog happier, but it'll also make him or her more attentive and less likely to misbehave. Another great thing about showing them love is that it helps build a bond between the two of you which leads to a stronger connection.
