Working out

Why we think we should do it

By Mia Kronhøj McShanePublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Exercise is bullshit. Let’s all stop and not workout. Let’s just be lazy pricks and so nothing.....

Let’s be quitters.

But in reality this isn’t how it works, we all want to look our best and for most of us this does require a level of exercise to burn more calories than we intake each day, as good old James Smith would have said it.

Does that man have the power of the rod or what? I love just watching him, he is as real as it gets. Plenty of bullshit but good advise wrapped on the “truth”

What is a workout? Is it when we just got a brisk walk around our neighbourhood? Does it require us to run for an hr?

I love working out. The heart pumping, I feel awesome after and it makes me better choices eating after maybe it’s just because I feel guilty for eating a chocolate so I don’t.

When I workout I now hit the pavement or try at least to get that jog done I keep talking about.

I used to train 6 days a week, calorie count all my food and be really strict and I absolutely loved looking at the progress in the mirror. I loved seeing the cm’s drop off and the muscles increase and feel myself getting stronger and stronger in gym.

THEN Covid hit and it became harder to get to the gym and even impossible at one stage, it went to home PT or virtual groups training together. I tried and tried to keep motivated and do my own workouts but I discovered I need people around me; I need people sweating and hurting around me.

I used to mix between PTs and group sessions and this was my go-to when I was bored, needed to not think or just because it was in my calener, but then laziness found me and this has now become norm.

A walk with the dog is as much exercise as I get now or a good long hike once a fortnight. It’s truly amazing how quickly our body and brain create new habits and we think that’s what we want to do, but in truth whatever we feed our brain; laziness or exercise, it’s what we want to do.

When I train though, I love listening to music; in truth I love listening music 247 if I could, but whether it being through headphones or speakers, who can go past Bon Jovi during a workout session. It’s Iike the louder the music the more weight or the more sets I can do.

Music definitely makes me happy. It can also make me sad, but it’s truly amazing how much power a few cords and a few lyrics out together has.

I am sure we can all name one song that definitely makes us smile or one song that has a super special memory attached or a song e need to hear when we are feeling down or sad.

I personally love Danish music when I am homesick, it’s like the tunes of Danish mucus playing around me brings me closer to everyone I miss and in that moment it doesn’t matter what county I am in as I am happy - trained or lazy

What’s everyone else’s favourite music? Working out is loud and pref Bon Jovi. When sad or just want some Danish in my life it’s Kim Larsen.

As I lay here on my bed missing my toned trained body, I also badly want to eat a chocolate bar and just read my books......

All the goodness exercise brings, I think music does exactly the same so it makes perfect sense that when we bring them together it’s PERFECT and AMAZING and JUST BLISS

happiness
