Why It's Important to Start Before You're Ready

We've all been there at one time or another

You want to start something new because it would be great for you, but you hold off because you're not ready yet. Maybe you feel like your idea isn't perfect, and don't yet have the skills or resources to do it perfectly. Maybe people in your life aren't on board with you concerning your plans, which may hold you back. Or the only thing standing between you and a new project is fear of what might go wrong instead of excitement about what could happen if things go right. But here's the thing: if now isn't the best time to make a change, then when is? And if now isn't the best time to start a project that will help change someone's life, then when is?

You'll never be ready.

If you're waiting for the perfect time, it will never come.

You'll never be ready.

The perfect moment will come and go, and you'll have nothing to show for it but a long list of excuses and reasons why you didn't start earlier—the same list that keeps growing every day that passes.

May thinking, starting doesn't mean much if you don't finish what you start—so why not use this time wisely? Why not use your life as an excuse to do something good instead of wasting away while waiting for things to get better or worse? You're alive now! Use that!

The longer you wait, the harder it will be.

The longer you wait, the more you will procrastinate. The longer you wait, the more doubt grows in your mind thinking like: "I'm not good enough yet." Or: "I can't do this alone." Or: "What if no one likes what I make?" Doubt is like quicksand; if you fall into a pit of self-doubt and don't get out quickly enough, there's no hope of escape! The only way out is through action—get going!

Waiting is a waste of time and energy.

There are numerous reasons why you might think you need to wait until the perfect time to start your project, but here's the truth: You won't know when that time is.

Imagine what your life would look like if you decided to start now instead of waiting for something better to happen. Imagine how much closer you'd be to achieving your goals and dreams! There's so much potential for growth and happiness when we decide not to wait for things "to be ready." We can spend our entire lives waiting for a perfect time. However, it is wise to choose action over inaction each day—since every moment counts!

Things are always going to be hard and scary.

Let's be honest and realistic. You're going to be afraid.

You'll always feel like you can't do everything you want to do and will never be perfect. You'll forever worry about failure and what other people think of you and your work, even though no one else cares as much as you think they do (and if they do care, why?). As someone new in content writing, often with the self-echoing thoughts that my words are not good enough or interesting enough or smart enough—and while it's true that many writers are better than me at some things than others.

You don't know what's going to happen anyway.

You don't know what's going to happen anyway.

As humans, we like to imagine that the future is predictable—and we sometimes think that if we were more prepared and had more information, it'd be easy to see what may happen next. But life doesn't work that way. We live in a world of uncertainty, which means there are no guarantees about what tomorrow will bring or how things will turn out for us in the future. We can't predict everything (or even anything) about our futures; instead of trying futilely to figure out everything before you start something new and scary—don't! Just take a deep breath and dive right into your project with an open mind and an enthusiastic attitude towards whatever comes your way next.

You might not get another chance.

You never know when you might die. You can always start again, but you may not get another chance to do it. If there's something you've been dreaming to accomplished, and if this is the only life we have, there's no point in waiting until you're ready.

Create momentum by starting something today, no matter how you feel about it!

As you go about your day, make an effort to take note of things you want to get done—the chores, the errands and even just random tasks that need doing around the house. Now ask yourself: Is there anything on this list I can start right now?

The answer is likely yes! There's no time like today to start taking steps toward your goals and dreams. So, if you don't feel ready yet, don't wait until tomorrow or next week or even five minutes from now; just get started right now!

Conclusion

So, if you're waiting for that perfect moment to start, I have some bad news: It'll never come. And if it does, it might be too late. Better to start before you're ready. You must take action now, even if it's imperfect and scary. Every day you wait is a day wasted — a day in which your dreams are not coming true, and someone else is doing the work you could be doing to make them happen.

Start now and don't look back!
