Who Am I to Myself?
Discovering the Unique Perspective Within Yourself

Who are you to yourself?
Ever wondered… who are you to yourself? You could be an inspiring role model to your younger siblings, a stubborn child to your parents, a dedicated students to your teachers, a dork to your classmates, a relentless dreamer to your friends, but the real question is, WHO ARE YOU TO YOURSELF?
Personal Reflection
I found myself sitting with a pen in my hand, absentmindedly twisting its cap, when a thought struck me out of nowhere: ‘Who am I to myself?’ I sat and tried to answer this question as counter-measure as possible and nothing came out of it. As the last period of class ended, I rushed home to get its answer from Google.
I found a number of answers in the course of my search. The first line that stood out was: “You are a unique individual with a unique perspective on life."
So, does that mean: I AM A TOTALLY COGNIZANT BEING, WITH A TOTALLY DISTINCT VIEW PERCEPTION OF REALITY?
This sparked another question in my mind:“ What is that which can not be replicated in me?”
I shut my laptop and sat alone to contemplate and think through things in my mind. It took me a few days of reflections to gather some insights that actually might be significant.
You Don't Truly Know Yourself Yet
Yes, you read that right. For some of you it indicates that you have not yet taken a form in which you feel completely comfortable with yourself. May be you have never taken your time to discover your true self.
If you wish to understand yourself better and develop a personality that others admire, here’s what you can do:
- Take the time to reflect on who you are.
- Analyze yourself thoroughly.
- Identify your strengths and weaknesses.
Thereby, it becomes essential that you develop commitment to self- improvement so that you can become that force that people will notice and appreciate. Find it in you to work on eradicating those destructive personality characteristics. Always remember: it’s no one like you who knows you better than anyone else. Only you can objectively assess what you can do, as well as what you cannot do.
You Are You! That’s What Makes You Unique
No one else perceives the world quite like you do.
You have your own perspective.
You have your own passions
.You have your own dreams.
You have your own emotions and feelings.
THAT’S WHAT SETS YOU APART.
The world is full of individuals, but what makes each of us unique is how we interpret, respond to, and engage with life. Your personal experiences, challenges, and triumphs have shaped you into someone extraordinary. Embrace that uniqueness. Instead of comparing yourself to others, celebrate the qualities that make you distinct.
The Journey of Self-Discovery
Coming to understand one’s self isn’t something that happens in a day. So, it’s a route that will take its time, time for refection, and acceptance of one’s self strengths, weaknesses, and defects. Here are a few steps to embark on this path:
Spend Time Alone: It is a good opportunity to think and focus on spiritual components that are inside every person. Step back from the noise which may interfere and hinder your cognitive processes.
Journal Your Thoughts: Putting your ideas in writing gives you an opportunity to decipher your feelings and behaviors effectively. It is a perfect method of monitoring ones progress in the future.
Seek Feedback: It is not always comfortable to hear what others think about you to receive some feedback on your personality or behavior. Proposal to accept feedback from other people.
Set Personal Goals: This means you should define what success and happiness mean to you. Goal setting is important as it provides you with direction, you are also able to comprehend what is of most value to you.
Embrace Your Flaws: Everyone makes mistakes and that is understandable every now and then. The first thing generally accepted in improving oneself is to admit to one’s weaknesses.
Final Thoughts
Identity is one of the most liberating things to discover in the world: knowing who you are to your own self. And that you can find your passion, your meaning, your dream and all your flaws as well. Authenticity, confidence and purpose are the things that you will come across when you begin to understand yourself.
So, take a moment to ask yourself: Who am I to me? The answer may not come instantly, often times it may take time, but the walk leads to it will be good. Let me remind you that you are still you – the only one in the entire universe who has your kind of outlook about life. Which, in and of itself, is quite remarkable.
