Where's The End Of The Tunnel?

Pushing For Success Amidst Constant Disappointment

How many walls do I have to hit, before it seems like I no longer have to take a detour? How many emails must I sift through, before a glorious one comes that shows that I've won a challenge, gotten a decent pay out, got a new company client, or something else that displays some form of triumph? Days just appear to be swimming by at this point, and I don't feel like building another canoe to push through any more rapids. My eyes open daily (praise the Most High) to a new morning; full of hopes and dreams, comprehension of things that must be done, and...lethargic moods. I strongly DISLIKE feeling lethargic!

Every, single day, I am fighting with my own mind in order to maintain sanity, peace, and determination.

I am constantly working on my craft, so that I may evolve. Stagnancy isn't my calling! In order for me to constantly reach others, I have to continue pressing forward! Some days though...

I just DON'T FEEL LIKE IT!

I was excited to get out of bed today, and see all of the requests from new clients, or catch at least one new email from Vocal. Ha...nah buddy!

Di people dem nah baddah wit di ting yuh de write! (Had to switch to my Jamaican accent really quick) I've been so confident in myself through those challenges; I was sure I would win one of them. I put my heart in that "Good Deeds" challenge. I literally wrote some portions with teary eyes, because I remember the depth of what I felt at those moments.

It just...wasn't enough.

So now what do I do? What in the empty can of black eyed peas, can I do, in order to get an invigorating victory? I read a couple of the stories from the first place winners in the homepage, and I don't know specifically what I could have done differently. The only note I remembered was that some of them had A LOT more pictures. So picture quantity is what determines the winners of these contests? I would hope not (I know that isn't the case; I'm just venting).

Well, what the heck am I going to do? I have to get back into a better mood! I tend to lean towards a few reinvigorating techniques, to bring my brain back into a space where I don't feel as if I am an utter failure.

1. Put on the right musical playlist!

Music has been therapeutic, healing, relaxing, meditative, and propelling to me. I go to sleep to classical music of different kinds, and try to find Gospel or R&B songs in the morning that bring out the, "wolf from within." I don't know where humanity would be without music. As a singer myself, I genuinely don't know where I'd be without it.

2. Remind yourself of your affirmations

You're not randomly placed on this Earth. You're born with a purpose, and are influential beyond understanding. You give people joy and hope; you're a testament to someone's ability to push forward.

No one is birthed exactly like you! You cannot be fully duplicated! Our strength must come from different places, but one spot certainly is the understanding of who we are. You're a King, Queen, conqueror, influencer, gifted one, artist, person of note! Only you can determine who you are; even to yourself, make sure it's well known!

3. Place yourself in a progressive, and suitable environment

I definitely have learned this...

The ambiance set around you & the people you're surrounded by, will DRASTICALLY affect how you're feeling. If you're in a room painted all black, and you play music in the background that has a sad message, or dwells on pain due to heartbreak, you'll quickly wish you went with another idea.

4. Please don't eat comfort food

By Wright Brand Bacon on Unsplash

I LOVE to eat, ok? I was the kid in school asking classmates if they think they'll finish their lunches. If there were seconds after all the children ate, I didn't want to be second in line, when the call for more food was made. Ya know what I'm sayin? We love to eat, but when you're down, comfort food will seem so very necessary! Food does help with our emotions. Joy finds its way to our hearts, with every bite of that delicious cup of cookies & cream, ice cream! That meatball sub with melted cheese...listen...LISTEN...

Anyway...don't do it. More often than necessary, we're too sad to care about limits. Since limits aren't any of our concern when sad, we eat without stopping. That is the big problem! There are several ways to jump from sad to jolly, but we don't stop (usually) when eating is the option.

We can find ways to remove the dark clouds that stop over our heads, but let's be mindful that the feeling is temporary. Dust yourself off, smile, push your chest in, take a deep breath (a long one), and GO! We can accomplish our goals. I will win a challenge soon enough! Me not winning one doesn't compromise my writing ability! Even though clientele isn't fluid, that's just because the right eyes have seen my portfolio yet.

I will achieve my goals.

Greatness is in our destiny.

Don't lose hope!
