Websites You Should Not Check If You Don't Want Opportunity!
#People Development

Looking to break into the world of remote work but not sure where to start your job hunt? With more companies than ever offering remote positions, there are tons of websites dedicated to helping people like you find work-from-anywhere jobs. Whether you’re looking for full-time roles, freelance gigs, or part-time side hustles, there’s a remote job board out there for you, the trick is to find tricks on how to start and the right websites.
Before diving into these websites, it’s best to know exactly what you’re looking for first, such as the type of job and the online work environment that suits you. With so many online job websites out there, you don’t want to waste time signing up for and applying to every single one! That can get exhausting both mentally and physically.
Here are six tips from my own experience that can help you choose the right website(s) to get started!
1. Pick a Site that Matches Your Field, Some platforms are better for certain types of work. For example, Upwork is awesome for freelancing, while FlexJobs is great if you’re looking for a full-time remote gig.
2. Check for Trusted Sites, Stick to well-known boards like We Work Remotely or FlexJobs to avoid any sketchy listings. These sites do a good job of screening jobs to keep it legit.
3. Look Out for Fees, Some sites are free, but others, like FlexJobs, charge a small fee for their listings. Make sure the cost works for you before diving in.
4. Go for Strong Filters, Use sites with good search filters, like LinkedIn and Indeed. This way, you can find exactly what you’re looking for without scrolling forever.
5. Try Niche Sites for Special Jobs, If you’re in a specialised field, check niche boards. For example, Dribbble is ideal for design roles, and PowerToFly focuses on tech roles for women.
6. Choose Remote-Only Sites, Sites like Remote.co or JustRemote list only remote jobs, so you won’t waste time sorting through office roles.
Using the right platform can make your remote job search smoother and help you find the perfect fit.
