One of my favorite quotes is, "Be the change you wish to see in the world". ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Each day I do my best to embody that quote (among many others), but we are all works-in-progress. I struggle with stress, anxiety, occasional depression; I think we all do to some point, especially after the last few years. For quite some time now, I have wanted to share my story of 'survival'. I want to share the coping mechanisms that have worked for me/helped me make it through, in hopes that I can help others deal with similar struggles.
I began noticing the increase in mental health problems with recent events and wanted to help in some way (especially for the children navigating this scary world). I got certified to teach yoga to children through Kidding Around Yoga. I also signed up for trauma-informed yoga instruction, which I am halfway through finishing.
This didn't feel like that was enough though. Yes, I would be helping children, but what about all of the parents I knew of that were struggling also? Just because they were adults didn't mean that they too could use a reprieve from the world and all of its chaos. That's when I decided to enroll in Southwest Institute of Healing Arts' program for Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner which encompasses hypnotherapy, life coaching, aromatherapy, reflexology and more.
I am proud of myself, as I have kept a 4.0 GPA while working part time and as a single mom who is also homeschooling her son during all of this craziness, I have my hands pretty full. Nonetheless, I have managed to also register my business, work on building and launching my website (& I am not technologically inclined whatsoever) and start a crowdfunding campaign for like-minded individuals who do not like the direction that the world is headed and are ready to "be the change" our children deserve.
I feel that the holistic modalities that are offered above, along with yoga, meditation/mindfulness, sound healing, herbalism, and rebuilding communities is key to changing our future. We must take this opportunity to manifest the world in which we can watch our children thrive and be safe, happy and healthy. The name of this venture is Holistic Tranquility. I simply want to help people access the tools and resources they need to live their best lives. I also envision a library of truth, a community garden, family self-defense classes (see RadKids program: https://www.radkids.org/) to help combat child trafficking.
