What to do when life gets windy

Sometimes life can be full of many challenges. It's not always the easiest for us to navigate. It has it's ups and downs and it's storms that want to blow us over. We live through them, sometimes it feels like we are living them everyday. As the wind picks up it tries it's hardest to knock us down to the floor. It's an unforgiving force that could care less about our feelings or what we want. How we face these storms defines who we are. It shapes our character and helps to develop us as humans.

What is the point to all of our suffering you may ask? Why do we have to face these storms in our lives. We are good people so why is it that we seem to have to struggle through our lives? If karma was real shouldn't we be getting rewarded for all the good we put into the universe? Yet it seems we are constantly being punished. It's a struggle that we all face. An uphill battle that we are constantly fighting. We strive to be good enough but our consequences say that we will never be there and we find ourselves sinking mentally into a major struggle.

We want karma to be real. We want to have control in our lives and say if we are good then good things will happen to us. The beauty of karma is we are in control. Our choices define our outcome. If we are good then we don't need to worry because only good things will come for us. However when we find ourselves in challenging times we can begin to doubt that we have been good. We wonder what bad things have I done. Why is this happening to me? And we begin to spiral out of control.

If you've been living for any certain amount of time then I'm sure you've seen that the world doesn't operate in that way. We can be on our best behavior and do good things for others and still end up having a rough day. Life is very unpredictable. We seem to be punished in ways that we don't deserve. Whoever thought up the idea of karma must have been an optimist only seeing what they wanted to believe because that is not how I see the world working.

We live in a world that was created to be perfect but has since fallen under the grasp of a thing called sin. It has introduced storms into our lives that may seem unfair. We have all messed up and fallen short of perfection. Especially the standard of perfection that our creator has. So when we find the storms of lives hitting our shores we can know to stand strong. We can know that it's challenging but we are not alone. We can know that we are going through this storm as a chance for us to grow stronger.

If we look at the world through this lens we can lean onto our creator for help through the tough storms. We don't have to try to be perfect and good so that good things happen to us. We can ask for help and know that we are not alone.
