The Three Keys To Survival In Any Crisis
How to survive a pandemic
Well, it's been a few days since I last published anything here on Vocal Media and that's because I've been mad busy being dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age of social media.
Today I published my own website and although it still needs a few tweaks it's up and running. I also updated my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Quora and Linkedin accounts. In addition, I have made myself present on at least three other platforms. It has been a lot of work and it is all a far cry from where I was pre-Corona Virus crisis.
A year ago I was a full time musician and teacher. Covid put paid to all of that. The music has been dead in the water for over a year now, and in all that time I have not picked up my guitar nor touched my piano or keyboard not once. Fortunately I have managed to keep my language students by doing classes online. And doing this lead me to believe that online was the way to go.
I have to be honest, the prospect of relearning all the computer stuff I used to know off by heart at the beginning of the computer age did not exactly fill my heart with joy. However, I had to be pragmatic and set to with haste before I sank under the waves of turbulent fiscal waters.
Like a lot of people I have basically been busy diversifying and reinventing myself. And that is the key to survival in a crisis. If you do nothing then that is exactly what you will get, nothing. Stagnation is your biggest enemy and you should do everything to avoid it.
So now I feel more than ready to embrace the brave new world that faces us. There are a great many challenges, but with an optimistic, positive 'I can do it' mindset and attitude you can overcome those challenges and do virtually anything.
In the process of reinvention I have learnt a new skillset. I never dreamt that I could build my own website. Last year I did investigate having a professional web designer build me a website, but the cost was too high, so I shelved the idea. I was really quite surprised to discover how easy it is to build your own webpage. I used Wix as it seemed to me the most intuitive system to work with. Since then I have had a look at Word Press, which seems to be quite a bit more complex. Having said that, Word Press does come across as the most professional and SEO friendly type of webpage.
Like I said, with time on my hands due to a decline in other work, I decided to see if I could do it myself and found that I could. For just thirty English pounds I built the site and got it up and running. Not too shabby, though I say so myself. And now that that one is up and running, I feel emboldened to tackle a new webpage using Word Press.
Whether anything will come of all this labour at the keyboard is anybodies guess. But if you don't at least try then for sure nothing will come. Of course, any crisis in life requires the same mindset of adaptability, diversification and reinvention, these are the three keys to the kingdom of success. If you are prepared to take that on board with optimism and positivity, you can do anything, survive any crisis be it a pandemic or otherwise, and come out smiling.
Remember, the three most important keys to survive any crisis are adaptability, diversification and reinvention. If you can adopt that mindset and put it into action there is no reason why can not only survive, but also prosper like you have never done before.
