The Night Owl
It was a beautiful night, when the blue light of the moon lingered on. The beautiful queen, the one poor lady with slim figure, and long beautiful black hair, never knew that she was meaningful. She always underestimated herself, but now...just now, she was wondering…
“I am expecting this girl to be born..any moment. The moon was so gorgeous lately...why would this owl in this beautiful tree not let me sleep?. It’s been trying to communicate something?...But..what?.” And so the queen went in a dream, and Azzad was born on that beautiful full blue moon night.
The ocean waves were embracing the rocks of the coast, like in a beautiful mystic dance.
-Is this Azzad?? She is so beautiful!! ...Everyone was in awe of this beautiful child with small features, and beautiful large brown eyes.
Yet, Azzad grew up. She had to embrace the normal life. School life and society alike. However, Azzad was different. She was the lone wolf, with sharp eyes, and a genius brain.
On a Tuesday morning, among the Sciences high school, there she stood...alone as always, observing, and embracing her books.
She was thinking loud into her bright mind: “Nobody understands me, and that’s ok.”
One of the “cool,” kids approached her and bullied her:
“ - Hey, boring! Would you ever be able to carry a conversation?”
Azzad looked up for a moment…
“ -What kind of conversation?”
The other girl replied:
“-The type where you aren’t weak and boring?!”
Azzad gave a sharp look: “Weakness is essential to the weak who tear others down to feel a sense of empowerment.”
There was a moment of quiet, and another famous boy showed up:
“- Hey nerdy, what book do you read there?”
Azzad raised her physics book up…
“- Just physics.”
“-Hahaha….are you really thinking that as a girl, you got a chance?”
Azzad:” Does wisdom ever have a gender?!”
Somehow, everyone dissipated after her reply. But she was disturbed. She stood alone under the ulm tree in the school yard when Javier, the only person who seemed interested in her, approached..
“ Azzad….why are you upset?”.
“- Because I cannot relate to most.”
“But why?”
“- Because society is too centered, too prejudiced, too judgmental.”
“ How?”
“-How?! Look around you. Girls are mean to girls, and boys think they are superior.”
“Ahh, don’t pay attention...they are just arrogant...maybee, you just take things too personally.’
“-I don’t think you understand. I can feel energies, I can feel vibes, I can feel intentions. It is not about getting approval, it is about the fact that I wish to see equality and people to be more kind!”
“I get you Azzad...I think we shall see each other later.”
And so was she walking again feeling lonely as always in a world that did not belonged to her...or maybe she had not belonged in it.
Azad loved nature. She walked down the lonely path, leaves falling. There was this beautiful yellow butterfly passing her path, but all of a sudden she stopped in awe…
“ - Ahhh...how pretty!”. This majestic creature, with shiny green feathers, and pink collar, was embracing a gorgeous red flower while moving her wings into an infinite and impossible to catch pattern.
“ -Why dear hummingbird...why do you seem so familiar?! Only you and I know why. Shhh...let’s keep it a secret.”
And so was Azzad’s pact with her fellow bird.
Because Azzad had her own secret. She was a master of the sky in human form. She had become every night with a full blue moon a protector of love, light and positive energy.
When everyone was sleeping, Azzad was opening her wide wings in the night sky, protecting her fellow kind, and she always returned back to the version nobody could understand.
Azzad was the night owl, the one owl who loved her lonely time in the bare moonlight.
