The Myth of Meditation

The Silent Struggle Within: A Story of Awakening

On a full moon night, the entire world seemed to be floating in a sea of silver light. In that gentle glow, a young man left his home behind—a kingdom, a palace, a loving wife, and a playful child. But there was one thing missing: peace of mind. This young man was Edmund, a prince whom the world would later recognize as the enlightened seeker.

Edmund’s life seemed like a dream. He had a royal palace adorned with grandeur and beauty. By his side was a wife whose love was boundless and a child who brought joy to the family. Yet, amidst all this, his heart was restless, filled with endless pain and worry.

He was not running away from his responsibilities or loved ones. Instead, he was embarking on a deep journey to find himself and the true nature of life. He knew peace was not found in external possessions, but deep within the soul.

One day, under the shadow of a great tree bathed in moonlight, Edmund sat down and began to meditate—a profound journey to calm his mind. Day after day, week after week, he gradually quieted the noise inside him—his thoughts, fears, and desires began to fade.

Meditation was a battle, a struggle for him. He fought with his pain, his sorrow, and his fears. But this struggle made him stronger. Through meditation, he learned that pain exists, but it does not have to control life. Fear comes, but it cannot trap him in darkness.

Slowly, Edmund realized that peace was not outside but inside. What he was searching for was a deep freedom—freedom from himself, from his own thoughts and emotions.

When that moment came, he awakened. A peace rose within him that carried him to a completely new world. Edmund became the enlightened one.

Today, people all over the world follow in his footsteps. They close their eyes and meditate, sitting quietly with themselves, trying to understand their own minds. Meditation is not only for monks or saints; it is for anyone who feels tired, restless, or in search of peace.

You don’t need any special power, money, or status to meditate. All you need is time, attention, and sincerity toward yourself. When you look deep within, you will find that peace is much closer than you thought—you only need to discover it.

Perhaps peace is not something far away,

but something we return to—

when the noise around us fades,

and silence begins to speak.

But Edmund’s journey didn’t end with his awakening. As he walked through villages and forests, people began to notice something unusual about him. He spoke little, smiled often, and seemed to glow—not in a magical way, but in the way someone glows when they are truly at peace.

One day, a farmer approached him and asked, “Wise one, what secret did you find under the tree?”

Edmund replied, “I found nothing... and in that nothing, I found everything.”

People were confused. “How can nothing be everything?” they asked.

He simply smiled and said, “When your mind is quiet, you begin to see clearly. You see how much of your life is spent chasing things you don’t need. You realize that happiness is not hidden behind a big house or a perfect plan—it is found in each breath, each moment, when you are truly present.”

Children began to gather around him, listening to his stories. Adults came with heavy hearts, and he would simply ask them to sit, close their eyes, and breathe. No rituals, no sermons—just silence.

And in that silence, many found tears flowing—not out of sadness, but out of a feeling they hadn’t touched in years: peace.

Edmund had no crown, no army, and no throne. Yet he became one of the greatest teachers the world had known—not because he ruled, but because he helped others rule their own minds.
