The Knowledge

Consume it until you live

By VKPublished about a year ago 3 min read

What do you think is one thing that no one can ever take away from you? I believe that is your 'knowledge'. Yes, knowledge is power. It is a fortress that protects you.

Alright, but what exactly is knowledge? I would say knowledge is the information you acquire and the experiences you gather from various fields.

So, how does it help, or how is it a fortress for a person?

For instance, imagine five friends who decided to search for jobs in the IT sector.

The first guy was smart but didn’t reveal the full extent of his skills to his friends.

The second one had prior experience in the field, so he carried himself with confidence in front of the group.

The third had a solid understanding of programming languages, which he learned in college, and he further explored the field with the help of his relative's computer.

The fourth person didn’t have much knowledge of coding, but he was confident, thinking his speaking skills could carry him through interviews, though deep down, he felt a bit uncertain.

The fifth and final guy knew nothing about coding and struggled with English communication, but he was determined to secure a job.

None of them had excellent English communication skills at the time.

They began their job hunt together. Soon, the first guy got an offer from a reputable company. He confidently embarked on his own journey, shaping his life in his own way. His intelligence and preparedness, while not extraordinary, were enough for him to crack the interview. The others, however, were left behind.

After a few days, the second guy secured a job at a startup company. He was eager to learn and gain experience, even though the initial pay was low. He was confident that, in time, he would land a high-paying job (which he eventually did).

Now, three remained. Not long after, the third guy received an offer from a reputable company, and he too set off to focus on his career.

Now there were two. One fine day, the fourth guy also got a job offer. Although it wasn’t in IT, it paid well at the time. Later on, he gained knowledge in coding and tools, transitioning into the IT industry with a strong package.

But the fifth guy still couldn’t land a job and eventually found himself alone.

What was the reason? Everyone had tried hard, and each had their own story. Yet, he couldn’t keep pace with his friends, not even securing a BPO job, which he sought only after his friends. I would say the reason is simple—his friends had knowledge, and he didn’t.

Later on, he began to acquire knowledge in various areas, eventually getting an offer from a good company. However, it took him a longer time because of his lack of efficiency and personal setbacks.

The key takeaway here is that you must be knowledgeable in at least one area of your life. Whether it’s related to your career or your passions, if you don’t know it yet, make it your mission to learn. You need a relentless mindset when chasing something and a determination to gain the knowledge that will take you there.

If you possess material things, they can be taken away from you by others. But no one can ever take away your knowledge. It will always stand as your protector and propel you to the next stage of life.

In this job-searching story, I’ve illustrated the importance of knowledge. But you can draw parallels with your own life or those around you. Knowledge is the key to unlocking opportunities.

The conclusion is simple: 'Knowledge is power'. If you excel in one area, that’s fantastic. If not, keep learning until you master it. When you possess knowledge, confidence will naturally follow.

That’s how we find success in life.

Signing off for now. I’ll see you in my next story.
