The Healing Touch of Dr. Waseem

There is no doubt that true healing comes only from God. Yet, throughout history, there have been people in whose hands God places a special blessing — people who serve humanity by bringing comfort and cure to the suffering. It is a divine favor upon them, and through their efforts countless lives are touched.
Dr. Waseem was one of those rare individuals. A renowned homeopathic physician, he had an unusual gift: he combined homeopathy with a deep understanding of human psychology. People came to him not only for treatment but also for his kind nature, his humor, and his warmth. Anyone who met him once would become an admirer forever. Despite the rise of modern technology and machines, his clinic thrived because he treated his patients like family and addressed both their bodies and minds.
God had blessed him with an ability to reach the very root of an illness. Many patients with seemingly incurable conditions walked away healed after visiting him. Some even whispered that he had been granted a special “healing hand.”

My Friend’s Struggle
My childhood friend, Nasir, was preparing for one of the most important moments of his life — his wedding. But just as the big day drew near, something strange began to happen. A healthy, cheerful young man with a love for food, Nasir suddenly developed a severe stomach disorder.
Every time he ate, he felt an urgent need to rush to the washroom. Over time, his appetite diminished. His once enviable health began to fade away. His family grew deeply worried, especially his mother. Nasir was her only son, and now, on the threshold of marriage, he was battling a condition that no specialist or gastroenterologist could treat.
I still remember the day he and his mother came to visit us. His mother explained his condition in detail. Despite the special diet they prepared for him daily, there was no improvement. Listening to her concerns, one thought immediately struck me — Dr. Waseem.
I reassured her: “Don’t worry, Insha’Allah (God willing), your son will recover soon and will eat normally again.”

Meeting the Doctor
The next day, I went to Dr. Waseem’s clinic and told him everything about Nasir. He listened carefully, asking several thoughtful questions, jotting down details, and then looked at me with a kind smile.
“Son, your cousin’s issue is very minor,” he said gently. “Insha’Allah, you will see, he will be perfectly fine very soon.”
I expressed my concern that the wedding was approaching, and we had no time to waste. He reassured me, “Don’t worry at all. By tomorrow, he will be eating like normal again.”
The confidence in his words filled me with hope.

The “Medicine”
The following day, I took Nasir to meet him. Only two patients were ahead of us, and soon it was our turn. Dr. Waseem welcomed Nasir with his usual humor.
“So, young man,” he teased, “I hear you’re not eating. But judging from your build, you look like the kind who might even eat someone else’s share of food!”
Nasir smiled weakly and admitted, “Not anymore, Doctor Sahib. I survive on light meals only.”
“Come now,” said the doctor playfully, “you’re about to get married. Leave these fears behind and get ready for responsibility. Don’t worry about your stomach. I have prepared a medicine for you — the essence of my entire experience. Take a few drops right here in front of me.”
Nasir obediently added a few drops of the liquid into water and drank it.
“Good!” Dr. Waseem said. “Now tell me, what is your favorite food?”
“Pizza,” Nasir replied. “But I haven’t touched it since this problem began.”
Dr. Waseem leaned forward and looked him in the eye. “Nasir, go right now to your favorite restaurant. Order a pizza. Eat to your heart’s content. And I promise you, if anything happens to you, I will quit my practice.”
The confidence in his words was contagious.

The Turning Point
When we left the clinic, Nasir’s face showed something I hadn’t seen in weeks — hope. Without hesitation, we went straight to a nearby restaurant. He ordered a large pizza and ate it with genuine joy.
That night, I waited anxiously for a call, half-expecting his condition to worsen. But the phone never rang. The next morning, his mother called instead — her voice filled with relief and happiness.
“Thank you! Nasir is completely fine now,” she said. “He ate everything yesterday without any problem. He is healthy and cheerful again.”

The Real Cure
Overjoyed, I went back to Dr. Waseem to thank him and to ask about the miraculous medicine we had forgotten to collect. I also wanted to pay for it. Smiling, he placed a hand on my shoulder.
“My dear,” he said softly, “it was nothing but plain water.”
I stared at him in shock.
He continued, “Your friend had no real illness. He had convinced himself that every time he ate, his stomach would fail him. It was purely psychological. All I did was help him overcome his fear and strengthen his mind. That is why he no longer needs any medicine.”

A Lesson for Life
I left his clinic with a heart full of admiration. That day, I understood that true healing is not always about the medicine we take, but about the belief and courage we find within ourselves.
Dr. Waseem was indeed gifted — not because he gave out magic cures, but because he knew how to reach the human heart and mind. To this day, years later, Nasir never again faced that problem.
And I never forgot the lesson: sometimes, faith, confidence, and the right words can heal deeper than any drug.
