The great Mango 🥭 plan

"A comedy of errors that turned into a sweet success "

By Muhammad Abid shahPublished 8 months ago 3 min read

Ali and Hamza were best friends, classmates, and the kings of last-minute planning. Ali was the dreamer — full of wild ideas and even wilder confidence. Hamza was the skeptic — realistic, practical, and forever sighing at Ali’s antics.

It was the last semester of their university life, and everyone was either applying for jobs or planning to go abroad. Everyone, except Ali.

One afternoon, as they lounged under a mango tree in the university garden (ironically ignoring a career fair nearby), Ali suddenly sat up straight, his eyes sparkling.

“Hamza! I’ve got it! Our future!”

“Oh no,” Hamza muttered, already regretting asking, “Got what?”

“Mangos!” Ali declared. “We’ll sell mangos. Online!”

Hamza blinked. “You want us to become mango merchants?”

“Not just merchants — Mango Tycoons! ‘MangoFiesta.pk’ — juicy dreams delivered to your doorstep!”

Hamza stared at his friend. “We’re computer science students, Ali. We can’t even grow a cactus.”

Ali grinned. “Exactly! We’ll outsource the mangos. We focus on the tech, the branding, the customer experience. Think about it — ‘From farm to fan in 24 hours!’”

Hamza looked around, hoping no one overheard them. “This sounds… slightly less ridiculous than your last idea. Fine. I’m in. But only if we plan this properly.”

Over the next few weeks, MangoFiesta.pk was born. Their website was functional (after three mental breakdowns and one keyboard sacrifice), they partnered with a small mango farm, and Ali even convinced his cousin to act as their delivery guy — in exchange for free mangos, of course.

Their launch day arrived. They expected maybe 5 orders. They got 73.

“People are crazy for mangos!” Ali shouted, doing a victory dance.

“No, people are crazy. Period,” Hamza replied, already sweating at the logistics.

The first week was chaos. Wrong addresses, late deliveries, one box accidentally delivered to a goat (who loved it, by the way). But they pushed through. They learned, adapted, and somehow — somehow — ended the month with a small profit.

Then came the viral moment.

Ali made a funny video of himself dramatically catching a falling mango, adding the tagline: “Catch your dreams — or at least, catch a mango!” It went viral. Suddenly, MangoFiesta.pk became the summer sensation.

They started getting interview requests. Newspapers wrote about them: “The Mango Boys Who Juiced Up E-Commerce.”

Their old professors looked at them with proud confusion.

But success wasn't all sweet.

As the orders increased, so did the problems. Their supplier couldn’t keep up. A large order for a wedding went missing. One angry customer claimed, “Your mango gave me an existential crisis.”

Ali panicked. “Hamza, we’re failing! The mango gods are angry!”

Hamza, now the unofficial CEO of Sanity, replied calmly, “We need better systems. We’ll pause new orders for a week and regroup.”

They worked day and night. Hired a second delivery guy. Upgraded their packaging. Created a customer support bot (which sometimes got too emotional, thanks to Ali’s coding).

One evening, after a long day, they sat again under their favorite mango tree.

Hamza looked at Ali and said, “You know, I thought this idea was the dumbest thing ever.”

Ali smiled, “It was.”

“But,” Hamza added, “it taught me something. You don’t need to wait for the perfect plan. Sometimes, jumping in and figuring it out on the way… works.”

Ali nodded. “Exactly! Success isn't about having it all sorted. It's about showing up with confidence — even if your only plan is mangos.”

They laughed, high-fived, and stared up at the tree.

A mango dropped right on Ali’s head.

Hamza burst out laughing. “Guess that’s your reward!”

Ali rubbed his head and said, “Or maybe, it’s a sign — MangoFiesta Ice Cream is next!”

Hamza groaned. “Not again…”

Moral of the Story:

Dream big, start small, and don’t be afraid to fail (or look silly). Sometimes, the craziest ideas — paired with effort, patience, and a good friend — can lead to the sweetest success.
