You Are the Most Important Aspect of Your Life!
They say that you must help others in order to become a better person. Well, I personally think that is as far from the truth as you could possibly get. No one knows your mind, body, or spirit like you do. Do not let someone else fool you into believing that you are not the most important aspect of your life. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that you should ignore loved ones, or let someone die in front of you if you have the means to save them. What I am saying is that life still goes on around you whether or not you act “selfish” or “selfless.”

The Don Draper Success Plan
Don Draper of Mad Men is one of the most memorable characters to fill television screens in a long time. He's been the subject of plenty of essays about American masculinity and the culture of the 1960s. Mad Men has even inspired a college course.

How to Get Out of Bed
Waking up in the morning, the day can loom ahead of you like Mount Everest. More often than not, my mornings have begun with the, sometimes unbearable, weight of knowledge that once I climb out of bed, I don’t get to rest again until I’m over the top of that bloody mountain!

The Heart of an Artist
What occurs at that point in this hypothetical artist’s life is a kind of silence—the first thing he finds out is that for reasons he cannot explain to himself or to others, he does not belong anywhere. Maybe you’re on the football team, maybe you’re a runner, maybe you belong to a church, you certainly belong to a family; and abruptly, in other people’s eyes—this is very important—you begin to discover that you are moving and you can’t stop this movement to what looks like the edge of the world.

The Sacrifice For Your Dream
I heard a quote this year that changed my whole life. It was a quote I could have overlooked. One that I might have ignored or glanced over in younger days. When I read this quote, it all changed for me. It felt like the Universe had come to give me an offer. One I could not refuse, and would no longer neglect.

How to Magnify Your Focus
One morning I decided I would sun gaze while training with the bo staff on the rooftop. I was trying to do both at the same time and learned a valuable lesson. This lesson came in the form of intense pain. There was a moment, as I was twirling the staff in my hand, that I looked towards the sun. In that moment, I was thwacked on the top of the head. The pain was sudden and sharp, but it got the point across. My first thought at this pain was actually a positive one. "Good," I said in my mind. I understood this was a sign that I had lost my focus. I lost focus because I was trying to do two things at once. It was a reminder for me to get smacked in the head by the very weapon I used for training.

When Until Arrives
You decide to plant a bamboo tree. Every day you water and fertilize this tree. After a few days pass by, you see nothing. You continue to water it for weeks and see nothing. Weeks turn to months, and still you see nothing. You continue to water it for a year and you see nothing. Three years go by and yet you see nothing. Finally, after five long years, the bamboo tree shoots up to over eighty feet tall in a matter of six weeks. The question is of course is: Did it take six weeks, or five years?
