self help
Self help, because you are your greatest asset.
Self Love and Praise
Do you ever achieve something and never tell yourself you’re proud of yourself? A simple example: you studied really hard for an exam, put in the effort, and passed. You get your mates telling you congrats, and they pat you on the back. But did you take the time to say to yourself, "you did it!"

The Houses of the Zodiac: House #6
Do you know what your birth chart says? Or, do you even know what a birth chart is? Your birth chart is based off of the time, location, and date of your birth. At the time when you were born, every planet and star and thing up there in the universe was in a specific place. Doesn't seem like it matters, but it absolutely does. Your birth chart displays where all those planets and stuff were, and this contributes to the magic that is your personality.

Life Is a Puzzle That's Never Solved
Life. A seemingly simple word, but the meaning is a bit more complex than one would imagine. The dictionary definition of life is "the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to the environment through changes originating internally." However, this is not the only way to define life. Ask yourself this question; ask yourself what you believe life really means and what it is. What is life really? The answer to that, to me at least, is almost as elusive as the definition of the word "normal." It is my personal opinion that life is defined, not by the actual definition, but by each and every person living on this Earth. Life is defined by their actions and personalities, for each person's life is different. Life has a different meaning for each person, culture, and country.

Headspace: The Only Meditation App You’ll Ever Need
I’ve been a longtime sufferer of anxiety, depression, and OCD. I’ve been in treatment for these mental illnesses for about seven years at this point, and I’ve tried everything. One on one therapy, group therapy, coloring books, meditation, talking to adults and mentors I trust, exercising, meeting people who’ve been in the same situation, etc. The list goes on, of course.

Who on Earth Are We? (Pt. 2)
“If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet.” (Niels Bohr) The world in which you think you live, the dependable, real world, is nothing more than an illusion. So is time, as we shall see later. Your senses deceive you moment to moment, tricking you into believing that the world around you is real—solid. The truth, as we shall explore now, is much stranger.

The Best Liars
This is the story of a girl who only knows how to express how she feels like this. With erratic words and thoughts that don’t make sense, nervous ticks that only some will notice. A loud outspoken girl who gets lost in her own world sometimes because it seems like the only way she can escape the torment that shrouds her being occasionally is to dive into prolific writing escapades.

Positive Thinking
It is so important to be positive. Whatever you think in your mind will eventually leak out into your everyday life. If you always think negatively, how do you expect to get positive results? If want a positive outcome you must practice positive thinking. Whenever a negative thought tries to capture your mind, it is important to stop and overpower it with positive thoughts. If you start to doubt yourself and think that you can't accomplish your goal, or question whether you might fail, then you will need to drown out those thoughts. You should think that you can do anything you set your mind to, and know that you were created to accomplish greatness. If you fall, you can always dust yourself off and get back up again. These are the ways in which we should be thinking daily.

Altering Negativity Through Mindfulness
For several years, I spent my time providing crisis care for individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. One thing that was evident in all of my clients was traumatic life experiences. For over a year, I worked with clients struggling to regain control over their lives after traumatic life experiences. Having lived through my share of trauma, I find that I have a deep level of empathy for individual struggling to stabilize, recover, and ultimately rediscover their best selves. I have been a part of helping others rebuild their resiliency and exerting their personal will over the lives they found themselves in. I have held the hands of individuals who wish to end their personal pain. I have sat with people who deal with their pain by using substances to deaden the pain, individuals who disassociate as a means of escape, as well as those who harm themselves to control the pain in their lives.

Say Yes to You. Top Story - November 2018.
We all need a little reminder from time to time to stop and smell the roses. While working on my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I’ve found these concepts to be especially important not only for my clients but for myself, too. Learning to say yes to myself has been one of the most difficult but also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I hope it can be for you, too.
