Lightning Mother
Thunderclouds are full of tiny shards of ice that collide and wreak havoc on each other’s electrons. Since the state of electrons is in a frenzy, ice particles that have more positive charges drift upward while the particles that are more negative drift downward. Static electricity bursts from this transfer of energy, and eventually a bolt of electrons leaps from the negative to the positive side to even things out. That is the lightning you see in the deep dark of the cloud’s belly, or flashing across the sky that stays a second so you can see how far it reached. Most of what you see is negative lightning, and its flashes stay within the sky.

Dance Queen
Mark Twain said, “Dance like no one is watching…”. And I do. Even when people are. When I dance, I am my most authentic self. I move, bounce, glide on any surface whether it be wood, linoleum, carpet, rock-like, of cement. My first introduction to dance would appear outside in the streets of my Baltimore City neighborhood in Sandtown. As a young child, I would participate in all types of outside activities. Some of them involved dancing to neighborhood songs. I’m not sure where the songs originated but they were from an oral tradition which were passed down from many generations. Songs with dance steps like included “Is this the way you Willoughby”, “Here comes the Dukes a Riding, and many more. I’ve taught my children and grandchildren these dances and I hope they go on forever. Contact me, and I’ll teach them to you too. Here are the lyrics:

Game-Changing Speechmaking
Toastmasters, Toastmasters, Toastmasters. That’s what my brother advised when I told him I was scared to make speeches. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life trying to avoid standing in front of people and communicating. Even if I were able to successfully dodge their requests, I feared the inevitable day when group pressure, as in everyone yelling “Speech! Speech!,” would force me into compliance.

How I Embraced My Baldness
When we believe that a certain aspect of our appearance isn’t up to the level we want it to be, we start looking for a way to improve it. To enhance it so that maybe it can help the level of our social acceptability to increase. Physical appearance means a lot to us. We want to look in a certain way. Build muscle and get abs. Or eat less food to lose weight.

Finding Light in times of Darkness
Life is a game filled with ups and downs; with darkness and light; with challenges and successes. We have birthdays, breakups, graduations, deaths, uncertainty in our careers, accomplishments and frustrations; as we play along through our life stages.

Mahara Mindfulness The Human Being Journal: A Year-End Review
I’ve been really into journaling in 2021. Last year, to replace the gratitude journal that I initially purchased on a whim, I made the intentional decision to invest in a quality journal to capture my thoughts and progress, as well as to keep tabs on my mental health as I continue to navigate our collective struggle through the "Pandamatic".

Take That Nap!!
I have declared that next year I will slow down. I will take deep breaths and focus on clearing my mind. I will pause before I react to people or circumstances. I will put me first! This is just the tip of the ice burg for my New Year's Sleep Resolutions.

When I'm Gone
Throughout my life, I've flitted from one shiny object to another. I was attracted to males who fancied me and rejected by the ones I wanted with all my senses. I took jobs with employers that would have me. I never once planned a course through my days, weeks, months, and years. I still don't. What will be, will be.

And I thought saying ‘I love you to the Moon and back’ was pretty cool!!
For all that I know about it, it sounds picklish! It’s kinda box full of darkness.. You imagine being so close to your beau and you don’t know if saying it would change your life for any good. You feel you mean to talk about love. But before saying things cliche’ about the moon!...think about what it really means. Isn’t it any better if said it in your own way!!
