Secrets to Life from a Little Black Book
“Pack up your things and leave immediately! You will be lucky to ever get another job in marketing ever again. I will personally make sure of that!” Danny’s words were laced with venom. Blythe had worked for her manager for a year now; a man she no longer recognized. The hate bleeding from his eyes and the poison lashing her was nothing she experienced before.

She's Different
“One morning, she woke up different. Done with trying to figure out who was with her, against her, or walking down the middle with her because they didn’t have the guts to pick aside. She was done with anything that didn’t bring her peace. She realized that opinions were a dime a dozen, validations are for coupons, and loyalty wasn’t a word but a lifestyle. It was on this day that her life changed. And not because of a man or woman or a job, but because she realized that life is way too short to leave the keys to your happiness in someone else’s hands.”

A Moment in Time
I am the fog. When I come, I lay me down– just one small particle of the universe next to another small particle of the universe, and on and on– until I blanket the world about me in a soft milky haze; all that exists is this moment in time, here, and now. I am the everything and the nothing; I am all that was, all that is, and all that ever will be. I am the emptiness that is possibility. I am the reminder to use what you have available to you, as I give you limited trees, dark and fading against the endlessness that is me, and a steady ground with which you may lay your weary head. I am what gives the falling leaf that spirals down towards you significance as you look out into the vastness that is me. I am what takes your big world, and carefully molds it into a much smaller, much more manageable world. I am what allows you to hold your breath while you breathe; to pause life, as life surges on about you. I watch you—and you, watch me.

Little Black Book
With tears still slowing running down her cheeks, Margaret walked away from the graveside burial of her grandmother with a package in her black gloved hands. One of her aunts handed it to her just after the ceremony was over. Her hands were still shaking a bit and she did not have the heart to open it with so many other people around, so she just stared at her grandmother’s writing on the front. For my dearest Margaret with love.

Every Penny Counts
Modest Desires, a Deserving Beauty 2015 is a great year to vast in the ALOHA city of Honolulu. Hawaiian culture is at its peak of intermingling ripeness. The scene is saturated with a wide variety of fast-food chains where celebrity concerts are periodically held at the nationally recognized American football stadium. Although there`s a mixture of mingling cultures cohabitating here, the sound of ukulele struts sound across beach sands louder than any portable radio. The air is crisp and gives host to constant traffic of passenger planes. The tourist-filled behemoths seem to fly unreasonably low and oddly close enough for the logos on their tails to be easily identified. Small and big motor vehicle types frequent [both] the newly paved streets and daintily paved pathways. Most of the vehicles in this area host engines that putt-putt along slightly louder than when they rolled off their mainland assembly lines. KALUA PORK is pork that has been slow roasted under banana leaves left underground. It contends with CHICKEN KATSU pairing with sticky rice. Both are among the most desired dishes on local dining tables.

"Riding the Lightning"
The bolt of lightning shot out of the sky and struck a small pine tree not two hundred feet from the campsite. The ensuing thunderclap was so loud it almost knocked Sammy from his camp chair. One minute you’re sitting by a nice campfire sipping on a cup of coffee and the next thing you know you’re grabbing an empty ice chest and scurrying down to the creek to get water to put out a fire.

The Cold for Company
If she lies still enough she can hear the cat’s gentle breathing. He’s curled up in the nook made by her bent knee with the duvet piled around him for further insulation. Light is beginning to come through the window, meaning they’ve slept in. Although the chores around the farm don’t require an exact schedule, the young woman prefers to complete her tasks as soon as possible.
