Rejection and Doubt
When we hear the words "rejection" or "doubt," they are always associated with apathy, sadness, and all the words around us. But what if they have not been converted permanently? instead of viewing rejection and skepticism as evil, what if we were to see it as a real thing? I know it is harder than it sounds, because let's be honest, if we are rejected in any way, for example; work, woman or man, whatever, we go down. Being told we didn't get the job we were trying to do makes a person feel inadequate and will not be pushed up, or being rejected by someone we ask or interested in makes us feel bad, humiliated, because putting ourselves there, and / or again, is not enough. once a person has been rejected, it can leave a feeling of trying to be different in order to persuade that person to return. Not getting the job we were trying to get can lead to frustration and a lack of effort.

30,000 feet above the earth
As I was heading to Banff, Canada in Feb 2019 I was looking out the window to the clouds and scenery. At first there weren't many clouds, but then we got to a place that all you could see in any direction were these beautiful white clouds.

Five Unique Settings You NEED to Write About
I will go out on a limb here and say that most of us agree that world-building is one of the most exciting parts of the writing process. Grabbing an abstract idea from your mind and cultivating it into its own universe can be an exciting creative warm-up. Most of the time, environments and societal structures in fantasy pieces can really make or break a story. For example, people will ask you about your Hogwarts House, not which character you like the most.

It's Okay If You're Not Passionate About Your 9-5
Has someone ever made you feel like a bad employee because all they can do is talk about how much they love their job, and you're just trying to make it until 5:15pm so you can go home to your cats and books? Because I certainly have.

The Unspoken First Step of Self-Care That No One Teaches You
Do you ever get that advice: "Check in with yourself once in a while"? For me, I had no idea what it meant. I would sit there and ask myself the "check-in" questions you get on those pretty Instagram photos under the #MentalHealth hashtag. They were words I was familiar with but didn't understand.

How To Stay Positive All The Time
If you spend time right now, it is easier to get good feelings and always work with what you have in your life. When you have a quiet time, be it on the street, waiting for an appointment at work or waiting for a train station, focus on the positive aspects of your life: the people you love and care about, and the actions you take. Choose to be optimistic now to free yourself from negative thoughts and increase your gratitude for being always present.

To Improve The Quality Of Your Life, Focus On Getting Better
Self-improvement Is A Long And Arduous Journey Would you like to work on your life? Is it true that you are focused on changing your conditions? Many individuals will respond to yes to these inquiries, however it is my experience not very many individuals are committed to working on their life.

An Introvert’s Survival Guide for Going Out Into the World Again
I’m an introvert. To be quite honest, when quarantine first started many, and I mean many months ago, I wasn’t too concerned. I’d get to sleep later before work rather than commute, not be forced into social obligations, and I could walk around in joggers every day. I was being safe, and acclimating to a work from home, stay inside type of life. It wasn’t exactly a stretch.

Everyday Ways to Give Back to the Community
Giving back to the community can be enriching for both the giver and the receiver. But before someone can “give back to their community” they have to decide what community they belong to. Many of us live in one location and work in another, and what we consider our “community” can vary from person to person.

Learning From the Past
Not every person esteems history or the past similarly. In the citation books on my shelves, for each statement that echoes "history is bunk" (from Henry Ford), I can track down a "the individuals who can't gain from history will undoubtedly rehash it" (from George Santayana).

Writing for Noobs like me
The maddening changes happening all around us in the world in these unusual times have lots of people deeply thinking about what they are doing with their life, “what makes you happy?” “What are you passionate about?” and so on…. cliched they may be, but persistent none the less. Perhaps we are just too comfortable in the modern world when we are not spending as much time in the age-old sport of survival of the fittest. I am certainly no exception to this trend having wasted many hours on these types of thoughts. “Writer!” says that little voice in my head “Maybe you could be a writer!”. I should be going to sleep right now. Instead (and certainly not for the first time) I am searching the internet about how you can make money as a writer. It’s a real shame that “it would have to be a viable source of income” is the second thought that comes to mind and probably not indicative of the required free spirt of a real author, but hay, needs must. I find the Vocal site and have a good browse around; some things are my cup of tea, some not so much, mostly impressive none the less. “Their command of language is a lot better than yours anyway” says the little voice “You would need a lot of practice to be any good” he continues “yes, yes let me dream of it a little, I’m supposed to be going to sleep and that’s the time for dreams” “I” reply. It just occurs to me now that the little hypocrite was the one that suggested the whole thing in the first place, the same one now admonishing itself/myself in some sort of maddening fractal double bind, “Probably make a good Koan, but you don’t know anything about them anyway” he interrupts, “Shh” I reply. I remember as a young boy on family holidays gazing off into the distant mountains, a sea scape, horizons, or lochside depending on our destination (never a palm tree beach and coconuts for us, all tartan and haggis and within driving distance of home) and thinking just how cool it would be to wander around thinking of stories and ideas and writing them down as an actual Job. My little dissenter continues his secretion “stop spending time on this, you should think about raising an invoice for that TCP/IP work on the client’s new system” “Shh! it won’t take that long I think it’s only supposed to be a few hundred words” I reply.
