Success. What does it mean to me?

Success is a term that is often thrown around but if you asked 10 people what it is, you will get 10 different answers. For some, success is about achieving wealth, status, or recognition. For others, success is more about living a happy and fulfilling life, regardless of how much is in their bank accounts. But which definition is the “right” definition? Is there even a such thing as a “right” way to define success?

In this article, we will explore the concept of success and the different ways it can be defined. We will examine the traditional definitions of success and why they may not be suitable for everyone. We will also look at alternative definitions of success, such as achieving work-life balance, making a positive impact on the world, or pursuing one's passions.

Defining Success: What Does It Mean to Me?

I know. I know. I know. Another article about success. I promise you it is not going to be what you think. If you have been around me for any length of time, you will know that what I write is usually not your usual stuff. So let’s get right down to business, shall we?

For me success is different from what most people think. Most people think success is having a certain dollar amount. Most people think it’s having the biggest house on the block. Most people think it means driving the fanciest car. Most people feel like they have made it when they can jet set around the world. For me that’s part of it, but it’s not the ONLY thing. When I think about success, I think about having freedom. And having a lot of money doesn’t always give you freedom.

What do I mean by freedom? I mean having the freedom to just be able to wake up whenever without having to have an alarm clock. I mean being able to just take a walk down the street without having to have bodyguards or run from paparazzi or any of that nonsense that celebrities have to go through.

Alternative Definitions of Success: Pursuing Passions

For me success means being able to spend more time doing things just because you enjoy them, not because they will bring you money. This means being able to explore new hobbies just because they are fun. Remember, like you used to do when you were a kid?

The Importance of Time Freedom in Achieving Success

When I think of success, I think more along the lines of time freedom. And I guess money does bring about time freedom in the sense that you can just pay someone to do the things that you don’t want to do. Am I against having a lot of money? Um no. I wouldn’t be spending time trying to teach people how to make money from home if I was against having a lot of money.

Trusting the Process and Enjoying the Journey: A Reminder to Avoid Overworking Yourself.

Success means different things to different people. While many people measure success based solely on their financial status, for others like me, it's more about achieving time freedom and having the ability to do what they want without restrictions. Success is subjective and it's okay to have a different definition of success than others. My definition of success may not be the same as yours, but that doesn't make yours any less valid than mine. The key is to identify what success means to you and work towards achieving it. Don’t overwork yourself trying to achieve whatever your definition of success is. Trust the process and enjoy the journey.
