Silence Please

Swept up all the noise and move forward

By lovely tolentinoPublished 5 years ago 4 min read

Currently, no matter where you look, someone or something is attempting to capture your attention. Because people are spending more time online, it is even more frequent today and in the last year. With so much noise around, it's difficult to focus and can be emotionally and physically exhausting. It's more important than ever to have a firm grasp on what you want and how you'll get there. It's important to practice what I refer to as "ignoring the noise," or you'll become engulfed in the noise and have no idea how to move forward.

What is the source of it?

Who hasn't had the notion that it would be so much easier to simply turn everything off like a light switch and enjoy a few moments of silence? I know that this is something that I am experiencing now more than ever before. Every day, from the time we wake up until the time we go to bed, distractions are all around us, and even in bed, we are thinking about them.

The internet serves as the primary catalyst; we can no longer achieve anything without it. We spend a lot of time online, whether it's for social media or for business. No matter how hard we try, we can't get away from it since we've gotten so reliant on it for everything. The internet has made us into mindless robots or drones that repeat the same routine every day. To be honest, how can you blame them when they are continuously inundated by the internet wherever they go?

Because the Internet is the catalyst, social media is its co-conspirator. It's where most individuals spend the most of their internet time and where they obtain the most of their information. Someone or something is trying to catch your attention on social media, from commercials to influencers. If you have a face-to-face conversation with someone, they will tell you about someone they are following or something they saw on Instagram or Facebook. People today believe that social media is the same as real life, and they try to act like the people they see, often without even realizing it.

What brought us here?

Okay, that's all well and good, but why is it so vital to ignore the noise in the first place? Today's civilization is completely reliant on other people or things for information. Because it comes from another person or a corporation, this information is likely to be biased.

They'll strive to encourage themselves to believe in whatever it is they want to believe in.

No one now thinks for themselves; I have talks with people who I know aren't thinking for themselves because they simply repeat what they hear on the news or on social media.

When you ask them how they feel about something, they usually don't have an opinion or don't even agree with you. As a society, we have lost our ability to judge what is and is not important to us. If we keep going down this road, we'll end up looking like robots with no feelings or thoughts.

From this view, we are in the worst shape in history, having lost any connection to ourselves and even to our fellow human beings. We acquire all of our information from people we've never met or don't even know. We are aware that the majority of information available is false or does not sit well with us, but we continue to consume it all. Our culture has been completely swallowed by noise, and we are today more bewildered than ever before.

Building the Foundation

The picture I'm painting may appear gloomy, and it may be difficult to fix since it's impossible to avoid. It is, however, considerably simpler than you may assume. It all starts with the notion that you must genuinely comprehend your basic principles and beliefs. This will be the foundation for you going forward so that it will be easier for you to ignore the noise.

When things go off the tracks, knowing your essential beliefs and principles gives you a sense of direction. You'll be easily swayed back into the noise if you don't do this.

The majority of people do not have any basic ideas or values, and if they do, they are most likely derived from people they follow or from outside sources.

You must devote the necessary time and recognize that without this knowledge, you will be unable to progress. A solid foundation of what you actually believe in acts as a sort of weighing scale for any outside noise that comes your way. You may now process information and assess whether it is relevant to you. If it is, you may be certain that it will work with you and fulfill your needs.

How to ignore the noise

So now you have this tool, but how are you going to utilize it to stay out of the noise? To be honest, you're not ignoring anything, but stick with me as I explain. What you're doing is ignoring and spending our time and energy on things that are no longer valuable. There is no way to succeed if you don't have the core tool for your beliefs and values. This is the key: it's not about being more concentrated than others; it's about being more concentrated on what you want and what matters to you.

It's not that the story isn't valuable; it's just that it's not benefiting you right now or aligning with your beliefs. It will take time to learn this ability, but it will make your life so much easier in the long run.

This tool will help us ignore the noise of all the stuff of no value to us and serves no one. It will allow us to level up as a society and be able to have meaningful relationships. It's probably time for us to take action and genuinely grasp our principles and beliefs. This foundation will help us in weighing each piece of information and determining whether it aligns with us or not in the future.

Yourself is the key until the end!
