Who are Empaths or Highly Sensitive People?

Empaths are highly sensitive people, with a very heightened sense of intuition that allows them to feel and sense the thoughts and emotions of people around them.

Empaths have the tendency to take on the emotions of others, and make it theirs, be it negative feelings like pain or suffering, and positive feelings like happiness or joy.

Because empaths have the tendency to absorb the negative emotions, such as anger, anxiety, pain, and suffering of others, it’s imperative that Empaths have great self-care practices to continue to rid themselves of absorbed negative energy and emotional states.

Here are a few great self-care practices for Empaths and Highly Sensitive People —

Boundaries

You need to develop some boundaries to protect yourself from becoming an energetic and emotional dumpster for others.

Because Empaths and HSP’s tend to be very open, caring, and compassionate people, they attract a lot of people who are looking for space to release their trauma and negative energetic and emotional states.

It is not your responsibility to save anyone or save the world.

In the spirit of practicing self-preservation, learn to put up healthy boundaries!

Smudging

Smudging is the process of using natural elements, such as smoke, to cleanse and purify a person, or space, of negative thoughts and frequencies.

Sacred Plants, such as Sage, Palo Santo, Sweet Grass, and Tobacco can be used to smudge a person or room.

Salts Baths

Natural Sea Salt, as well as, Baking soda has the ability to neutralize negative states and frequencies.

Because of this, it is commonly used in physically and energetically detoxifying Baths.

Adding regular salt baths into your wellness routine will help you get into the habit of getting rid of negative energy you may have picked up, consciously or unconsciously.

Meditation

Meditation, the act of focusing on the breath, while silently watching one’s thoughts, is a very powerful and beneficial practice for Empaths and Highly Sensitive People.

Meditation equips you with the tools to be able to watch your thoughts and emotions, and eventually let them go, as you practice non -attachment to them.

It’s a great investigative tool that can shine light on the negative, emotional and mental states, we may be carrying with us.

Journaling

The practice of journaling, writing down our thoughts may is a very helpful tool for releasing thoughts and pent-up negative mental and emotional states we may be carrying.

Don’t underestimate the power of writing down your thoughts and feelings.

Writing is therapeutic because it serves as a release.

Purging with Plant Medicine

Plant medicine such as Psylosibin mushrooms, Ayahuasca, and Peyote can help a person purge themselves from negative emotional states and frequencies.

Plant Medicine is sacred indigenous medicine, and technology, that should be treated with reverence.

Fasting

Fasting is another underrated tool that can be used to purge the body of negative, physical, emotional, and mental states, or frequencies, within the body.

It’s why many people report, crying and breaking down at random points during a period of abstaining from food.

Fasting is detoxifying and cleansing.

Grounding

Grounding, also known as earthing is the process that involves your feet having bare contact directly with the earth, in order to reconnect oneself with the natural electrical charges emanating from the earth.

Grounding is healing.

And scientific studies continue to reveal the hidden health benefits of simply reconnecting with the earth through this natural technique.

It’s easy and simple.
