Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Which Quote Reflects Us All?

Seeing ourselves in the words we come across

I was at a pharmacy buying some medication when the lady pharmacist asked too many questions—why, for whom, this and that.

Done complying (phew!), I looked around. And saw these multicolored quotes on their mirrored door.

Yaay, I love quotes!

Turning the table around, it’s my time for questioning.

Nah.. no interrogation happened. Instead I just asked for permission to take a picture, which they sportingly granted.

And now I’m sitting in front of my computer, doing a quick “post-mortem” on each quote.

December: Last Month to Reflect and Prepare for 2025

Now with less than half of December left, many of us have already started writing or perfecting our new year’s resolutions, right?

As such, it would be timely to share the colored based quotes here.

So that we can all read, muse or apply them. And step into the new year 2025 with a tighter sense of purpose.

Ready?

.

Let me start with the quote on the left. The Red one first. I have retyped it here so that it is easier for us to see and digest.

"When I Believe I Can, I Can"

Aha, so true.

I remember Arsène Wenger of Arsenal once said, “If you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all.”

Belief is indeed the foundation of success.

According to a popular Malaysian TikToker on mental health, Mr. Amirul Amri, what distinguishes successful people and ordinary ones is their “can-do” attitude and belief in themselves.

.

Next, the Orange colored quote.

"Building the Future of Winning Teams Starts With My Attitude, Actions and Emotions"

Another truth.

I always believe a leader should have a positive mental attitude, manage emotions well and act on what they preached or walk the talk. Only then team members will follow suit.

.

The Yellow quote is next.

"To Master Change, I Must Overcome My Fears of Rejection, Losing Security and Losing Face"

Well, the first part resonates with me.

But not losing security and face. I dare not. Haha.

.

The Green quote shows some kind of formula.

"Power = Action X Speed"

Alright, this seems to highlight taking action and doing so with speed is what drives powerful progress and success.

Makes sense.

I would also interpret speed here as urgency or priority. Sometimes, we need to take action based on the order of priorities.

.

And the last quote in Blue says:

"It’s not because things are difficult that you don’t try. It’s because you don’t try that things seem difficult."

Alright, don’t let the wordplay confuse us.

For me, this means challenges usually feel hard because we didn’t try hard enough.

So, to avoid continuing feeling the blues, we must put in more effort.

Yes, always go the extra mile!

.

Moving Forward

So, which quotes reflect us all? Which color?

Some might say the Red one, some would say the Orange, and some, Blue.

Some would insist on the Yellow or even the Green one.

If you agree, you could be right.

If you disagree, you could also be right.

After all, I just used the ‘Mirror Mirror on the Wall’ phrase to grab attention.

We should never depend on whoever’s views or classification as our final fit.

And we should have our own mirror.

So that we can clearly see whatever words that we come across and smartly reflect on their suitability for ourselves.

Can relate, right?

.

The Quote I Lived By

Over the years, there is one quote that I lived by.

“Don’t rely on others’ information. You must have your own. If not, you will always be an assistant, not authority.”

I couldn’t remember the source though. Else I would credit them here. Thank you, kind soul. May God bless always.

Now, back to the said quote.

What does it mean?

For me, we must have sufficient information or knowledge in order to act wisely and be in control.

Else, we will always be dependent on others.

And that can be taxing. Exhausting. And unfulfilling even.

Alhamdulillah, by applying this quote, this has helped me climb the career ladder quite fast and in many other aspects in life too.

I hope it benefits you too.

.

Till then. Feel free to share your favorite quote too if you don’t mind.

Have a great December and Happy Planning for 2025! 😊
