Me and mine-there lies that fine line between the two. It's a line that defines who I am, what I aspire to be, and how I define success. This is a story about the journey of discovery and how "me" and "mine" run parallel in a rational as well as motivational path towards success, steered by life's lessons in order to make something meaningful and impactful.
The Early Years of "Me"
From a young age I thought perhaps what it is I could do to be different, to stand out, to be better. Probably the biggest misconception I had about "me" was that "me" was individual achievements and personal success. Everything seemed to orbit around perhaps what I was in a position to achieve or get for myself. The concept of "me" seemed to hold the core of every education or career choice made. This sounds really selfish now but honestly, something was missing.
I could check off items on my list, but there was something nagging the back of my mind, something that made these conquests seem utterly ephemeral. When success is all about "me," it can feel hollow because what we achieve alone doesn't totally define who we are but rather how we relate and contribute to something more significant.
The Movement Toward "Mine"
As I moved along in my personal and professional life, it dawned upon me that to just be a success for myself was not enough. Building something that lasts qualifies me to define as "mine". In whatever be the relationship, friendships, or even building a legacy about the work done, "mine" stood for the bigger picture.
But it was not an easy move, by any means. I had to free myself from the conceived mindset that life was all about myself and my personal milestones. When you work for something much bigger than your own self, success starts taking on a new, deeper meaning, no longer just about you but now about the people, the values, and the community part of your journey.
I began to care more about what was valuable to others, whether that was making my colleagues' success at work shine brighter or finding close personal bonds, or contributing to some causes I believed in. And I realized that "mine" wasn't about ownership; it was about responsibility, connection, and purpose.
Balance between "Me" and "Mine"
It makes all the magic in the balance of "me" and "mine." "Me" is all about self-care, self-growth, and personal goals. You can't help others if you're not working on yourself. But "mine" is all about taking that growth and using it to create something lasting for others-whether it's your family, your business, or the community.
It is not selfish to think of "me." In fact, it's necessary. You must have a basis for who you are in order to contribute properly to something greater. But without "mine," the purpose of your actions is shallow. It is through "mine" that we have fulfillment lasting long, build legacies, and nurture good relationships that make an impact.
For instance, when starting the company with my business, it started with "me": my skills, knowledge, and personal vision. Then, as the business expanded, it turned into being "mine": the team, the clients, the mission. It was no longer my dream; it was a collective dream for others who believed in it, contributed to it, and were part of it. This change gave my work a different sense of purpose.
Interconnected Motivation
This is precisely when the sense of ownership comes in. You won't bother completing anything you can see no reason for. That's until you understand why "mine" matters.
It changed everything in my approach to every challenge. I didn't do what I was doing for "me" anymore. I did it for people who depended on me, for the business that had grown into something bigger than what I could ever have thought of. The feeling of responsibility and relation fueled my passion in ways I had never known or felt before.
The Force of "Me and Mine"
And in the final analysis, "me and mine" aren't enemies; they're two sides of the same coin. You need both to live a full life. You need to take care of yourself, grow, and achieve personal success. But that success is multiplied when you use it to build something greater, something that endures beyond you.
Whether or not you are an entrepreneur, a creator, or simply someone who wants to make a difference in society, remember that striking a great balance between "me" and "mine" is the secret to long-term success. Focus on yourself and grow your skills and passion. Don't stop there. Take what you learned with you, take what you built with you, and share it with the world. Create something others may call "theirs" as well.
It wasn't about making "me and mine" successful, but rather finding a point of convergence between my personal growth and collective impact. A place where my story can inspire and uplift others. That is how to succeed—where "me" and "mine" come together to create something extraordinary.
This story encompasses logical progression with motivational factors, giving considerations to the level of personal achievement and collective impact. It further talks about how success is not only achieved based on individualistic goals but must also coexist to form something greater.
