Listening to Your Innerself

How??????

The Space In Between

Listening to your inner self is one of the hardest things for me to do. There are distractions, uncertainty (am I doing it correctly, how should I sit, what stone should I have with me, and what smell)should be burning. All of these questions arose when I first started. Another problem I have is what if I do not agree with what comes to me.

Twelve years ago I started on my spiritual path. My life was a disarray, exhausting, and overbearing at times for me to deal with. Because I do not do drugs, or drink. I really had no outlet. I was constantly chasing a dream, or the next big thing. When I was in my twenties I thought I could be anything I wanted, and God knows I tried. In the end, nothing but failed attempts. I was looking more and more like a disappointment to my son than anything. I worked all the time, and went to school when I was not working. I had nothing really to show for any of it.

As life got harder for me little signs would come to me like feathers falling in my path when there were no birds, numbers coming in threes, placing the right people in my life, and intuition was the biggest. I remember a friend of mine saying to me, "Sit quietly, and just listen." So many failed attempts on that. As I mention in my podcast when doing this you can not be thinking of things you have to do, what you should do, or what you did not do. The only thing you should do is sit still, that is it. There are no stones, candles, or anything else, unless you want it. Just you.

If you get a vibe or feeling YOU MUST LISTEN AND FOLLOW IT. This is not just a maybe, a whimsical, it is your guide, or guides telling you to do this, or not do it. Life is not always easy, convenient, or accommodating. Use the best tool you have, which is you. I know it is hard when you are constantly running, running, and more running. You have to slow it down, and listen.

I do five minutes at a time. Just take my mind to a different place. Also, if there is something you want answers to set your intention to that. Whatever it is.

When you sit, do a quick mental check. Set your attention to your head, eyes, ears, throat, heart, and stomach. Make sure you can feel each part. Now you are on your way. Take a few deep breaths in and out, then relax. Have your eyes closed, and think of nothing for five minutes. As you get more used to doing this, go longer. You can even start to practice when you are not relaxing. Maybe you are going for a walk alone, pay attention to what you feel, any signs, and vibes. All of this counts.

How Do I Know I Know I Am Doing It Right?

Nothing is happening, I do not hear, feel, or see anything. Just nothing, blank. niente, or zip. This is a waste of time. Yes, I have been there so many times. I even paid to have nothing happen. Until, you are trying to sleep at night, and things start to come to you. Or you are concentrating on your job, spacing out, so focused. Just sitting still, not even trying to do this, and boom the answer hits you on the head. I know what the ____!!!!! That is how this works.

Eventually things will come to you. Your awareness will be more present, signs will be placed in your path, and you will notice them. Most likely you will live and breath knowing your inner self all the time, even without sitting quietly. Remember you hold the tools to what you need. This will not be an overnight thing, it will take many tries. You will succeed.
