Life In The Modern Days

Modern Days

By Hamid Hussain ShahPublished 9 months ago 3 min read

In a small town called Greenhill, lived a boy named Ayaan. He was 14 years old and loved technology. Every morning, Ayaan woke up to the sound of his smart alarm clock.

It didn’t just ring; it told him the weather, reminded him to brush his teeth, and played his favorite music.

Ayaan’s life was very different from the life his grandparents had. He did not have to walk miles to school, write long essays with a pen, or wait weeks to talk to his relatives. Everything now was fast, easy, and just a click away.

School in the Digital Age

Ayaan attended a modern school. All the students had tablets instead of notebooks. Teachers used smart boards instead of chalkboards.

If a student had a question, they could search for the answer on Google in seconds.

During the break time, Ayaan and his friends didn’t just play football. They also played mobile games, talked about new apps, and watched funny videos on social media.

One day, their teacher, Miss Sara, asked the class a question.

“Do you think technology has made our lives better?” she asked.

Many students said, “Yes! It helps us learn faster, talk to friends, and play games.

But Miss Sara smiled and replied, “That’s true. But sometimes, too much technology can also be a problem.”

This made Ayaan think.

Family Time in the Modern Days

At home, Ayaan’s father worked remotely. He was a software engineer. He stayed in his room for most of the day, typing on his laptop and talking to people on video calls. Ayaan’s mother worked part-time and also managed the house.

Dinner time was the only time when the whole family sat together. But sometimes, even during dinner, everyone was looking at their phones.

Ayaan would watch videos, his father checked emails, and his mother replied to WhatsApp messages.

One evening, the electricity went out. No internet, no TV, no charging.

“Let’s talk!” said Ayaan’s father. “Let’s do what we used to do when we were kids.”

Ayaan was surprised but happy. They played board games, told stories, and laughed a lot. That night, Ayaan realized how nice it was to talk without screens.

Friends and Social Media

Ayaan had many friends online. He played games with people from different countries.

He had a YouTube channel where he posted videos about gaming and tech tips. Many people liked and commented on his videos.

But sometimes, Ayaan felt lonely.

He saw other kids posting perfect photos and happy stories. It made him feel like his life was not exciting. He didn’t know that many of those photos were edited and not always real.

One day, he talked to his real-life friend, Sara.

“Do you ever feel like everyone is happier than you?” Ayaan asked.

Sara nodded. “Yes, but I think it’s just social media. People only post the good stuff.”

That talk made Ayaan feel better. He decided to spend more time with real friends than with online strangers.

Helping the Community

One weekend, Ayaan joined a community group. They cleaned the park, planted trees, and helped old people with their phones.

Ayaan taught an old man how to use WhatsApp so he could talk to his grandson in another city.

“Thank you, beta,” the man said with a smile.

Ayaan felt proud. He realized that modern knowledge can be used for good things too.

Modern Challenges

Life in modern days was not always easy. People were busier. There was more pressure to succeed, more exams, more comparison. Ayaan often felt tired and stressed.

One day, he asked his father, “Did you feel like this when you were a kid?”

His father smiled. “We had different problems. We didn’t have internet or phones, but we had peace. We used to go out, play, talk for hours.”

Ayaan thought about this. He decided to balance both. He would enjoy technology but also spend time in nature, with friends and family.

Ayaan’s Routine

Now, Ayaan had a new routine. He still used his phone and tablet, but only at certain times. In the morning, he went for a walk. He played outdoor games. He helped his mom in the kitchen. At night, he wrote a journal with a real pen.

He also started a new project: teaching old people in his area how to use phones safely. He made small videos in simple language.

His channel grew, but this time, he was not just sharing fun—he was sharing value.

Final Thoughts

Modern life is fast and exciting. We have smart homes, online classes, food delivery, and robots. But in all this, we must not forget the simple joys—talking, walking, playing, helping others.

Ayaan learned this the easy way. By living both the old and new worlds, he found a balance.

Technology is a tool, not life itself.

Moral of the Story:

Use technology to grow, help, and learn—but never forget to live, love, and laugh in the real world.
